Cobbo: “I think he’s a nice guy but not a good coach”

How long does Kebbie have to prove he's more than just a good friend?

With the attitude he's displayed at times, they're welcome to him. One thing we are hardly lacking right now is backs, which makes his flippant behavior even stupider.
True. It never occurred to even the most ardent Herbiphiles that Selwyn might be the one to go.

There is a lot of entitlement from the fans particularly, you don't come to be a fan of a club like the Brisbane Broncos who were very dominant for all those years way back when without having a sense of entitlement.

We're no longer better than everyone else, we're another one of those clubs scratching and clawing to make it and win a premiership. We have an incredible talent pool but really that's all we've got going for us over some of the teams in the congested Sydney areas fighting for talent. Even that in recent years is being taken away from us with other clubs realising QLD is a great place to try and get a few players.
Yes, I know it gets up everyone's nose to point it out, but the Broncos reign of terror is long over. We can no longer expect to pay unders topped up with stipends from Slippery Sam's Washers and Fridges. We have the best facilities in the league. That's a selling point. Just a shame it's most appealing to those who like to relax in the hot tub.

He’s a kid, kids are stupid and do stupid things, that’s how they learn not to do stupid things again. If he walks out on another game then yeah, sure, crucifiy his character, but until then I think we should appreciate how young & naive he still is.
He’s been in the system for years. Walking out on your teammates even in a semi-pro or amateur setting is still dog and something you learn at a much younger age than Cobbo.

Just quietly I would love to see some data on the traffic this forum gets these days compared to the traffic it use to get during the glory days.

Or he could honor his own word. I mean, a man is only as good as it.
so now it's about a man keeping his word ? so was it still ok to do it to the mickey mouse club then ?

Agreed, you could be down at the local Indoor Sports facility, your mates want to know you're there supporting them, even if they are getting belted.

Youth can’t excuse everything. Especially when he was told by his employer that he had to be there and his use of the word “sneak” means he knew it wasn’t the right thing to do.

Real kids, you know 14 and 15 year olds, not a 20 year old man, know to support your team mates.

I'm not the one who keeps saying that. I just said he's under contract in the Super League, so maybe talk about someone who isn't.

Anyway what would I know? Apparently I've never heard of Norths, never watched a game of QCup and I think Samoa is NZ (despite having been to both).

If it is a choice between Cobbo and Herbie surely it is clear we need to choose Herbie.

I think the club needs to go in deep for Herbie, while he doesn't have the flicks or the passing game he's obviously very athletically gifted and deceptively strong.

Billy Slater wasn't a great passer either when he got going but over time you can develop that sort of thing.

Go on Facebook and have a look at the ‘fans’ who believe the out of context crap and labelling it all a media conspiracy/agenda and Cobbo has apologised and we should give the kid a break. 🤦‍♂️

Can you send me the link.

he was under contract at norths, just like mariner , oloapu , Niu etc etc.... contracts mean shit and if both parties agree ala Niu then there isn't any issue.

I got an issue with this idea that we're the biggest club in the world, we're not. Big financially, yes. However that means nothing in a salary cap competition.

We haven't been relevant for half a dozen years.

the salary cap doesn't mean shit when we're talking about coaches.

it's one area where we can actually use our financial clout

Yep, the biggest club in the world comes knocking and you are going to say, hmmm nope, English winter is the best, I'm staying.

But again, he might well do that and then the Broncs back off, they obviously aren't going to go after a coach who doesn't want to come.

This is all hypothetical anyway.
This idea of the broncos being a flagship club needs to go out the door if we are to ever become one again. It was true once upon a time but that was a long, long time ago. This type of thinking is how the rot set in and the club slowly came to be in the position it’s in.

Let's be honest and selfish here, he's got MASSIVE potential, we don't want to be throwing him away / releasing him for something like this only for another club to pick him up and get the benefits, ala Gagai.

We need to employ someone to train him properly, make it a part-time / full-time role if needed to help him grow up, if he does, we have a superstar on our hands, so again we don't want to cut out our butt to spite our own noses.
