NEWS Croft set to stay at Storm with Broncos deal in limbo

tbf, we probably werent expecting to have to pay Fifita so much.
I don't think Fifita's contract is an issue in this scenario. The big money for him will be in 2021, by which time the majority of our money issues will be solved.

Finding $400k for 2020 seems to be a much bigger problem.

I'd easily pay 450-500k for Croft to be our main half with the role to steer the team around the park, Milford to play eyes up footy as a brilliant 6 outside him...

Milford won't do this with Dearden as his partner.

you seem so certain that Dearden can’t be a good halfback. A TL;DR of why you think that?

I have a gut feeling that this will still happen but that we are crying poor to the media to try and get a discount on this (and a few other re-signings).

We don't want to crow about money we have left over in our cap otherwise player and manager expectations suddenly rise.

Which is a good idea if you haven’t just reportedly signed a has been on exactly the same amount.

Can't we just do a backended 2 year deal? Like, 200k this year 600k next. When the parasites come off contract at the end of this year we'll have 1.5 mil+ in the cap. even if 700k of that goes to Fifi we still have plenty left over. That's assuming the club aren't including Boyd, Macca, and Kahu inn their 2021 plans, and if they are then god help us.

I'm actually shocked that at 400k we're the only club apparently with any interest.
I think if the titans didnt have all their money tied up by taylor, i think croft and brimsom would be a handy halves combo (and both for only for a bit more than taylors salary alone)

I wonder if part of the reason Melbourne are playing hardball over Croft is because after watching their performances in this years finals, they are not as confident that Hughes is their long term halfback (especially once Smith retires and they need a game manager)

I hate to be overly cynical, but we shouldn't just dismiss up front that Melbourne aren't playing hardball on this just to screw us. Does that really sound that far fetched coming from them?

Des Hasler put an end to back ending contracts.

If they are then good on them. It’s better than giving a rival club a year to decide if they want to keep one of your players..

Because he is average and isn't what we need, people are just grasping at straws with this guy

Yeah, who would want the junior kangeroos vice captain in their side when you already have an 18 year old 5 game veteran, and hooker with the worlds worst haircut competing for the halfback position.
I think you should have a break from this place, it's consuming you.

Because he disagrees with you?
No because he's constantly posting and overreacting to posts. Could careless if disagrees with me .
I never said we didn't need a half , just not him. Some of the meltdowns on here recently are just ridiculous, might be time to have a break for some.

Who would you suggest for a half who is available?
