Daniel Vidot 2015

If he can drop 5kg's for next year and work on his handling / work under the high ball, he could be a very VERY good winger.

He really impressed me last night. His passion and metre eating were at their peek. Maguire also had a great game

I think he also looks a lot more comfortable on the right wing. I imagine that is probably his preferred side, but to accommodate for the Hodges and Copley combination/Maranta he probably played on the left. Playing on the right enables him to use his fend, and its probably quite a strong fend given his size. Playing on the left takes away the ability to fend. At Canberra he played mostly on the right. I'd like to see him on the right next year.

I do recall him being on the right in Canberra. When the media was debating which rookie would debut on the right wing for Qld, at the time it was JYY vs Vidot.

I don't know where this obsession with getting weight off players comes from. Sailor was at or over 100kg during his career, so is Tuqiri and I'm pretty sure Folau was at or around 100 during his time with the Broncos. In an age where a good kick return is so important, having a guy at that sort of weight would seem pretty important to get you off to a good start to your set.

Sacrifice weight for mobility and speed, sounds good to me. I doubt his work will get a lot more ineffective.

When the weight hampers speed it becomes an issue. I'd pick a fast & weak team over a strong & slow team every day

The last time Vidot's stats were mentioned I'm pretty sure they said he was 112kgs. Last year I don't think his top speed was lacking, but maybe his first few yards of pace and his turning may benefit from 5 or so kegs being removed. The only winger I can think of that's been over 110kg and serviceable is Vatuvei - and it's no surprise they share a lot of strengths & weaknesses.

I remember vidot said he wants to be lighter but Hook said no. Typical Hook.

Vidot was outstanding value in 2014 but he does need to get faster or become a prop.

He does seem to take a while to turn around too. Definitely needs to lose some weight.

He needs to cut out that inside step he does as he receives the ball and he will have the speed to run people over like he did against the Dragons.

If a player comes out and says he wants to lose some weight, its obvious that he just doesn't feel comfortable playing at the weight he currently is. He feels that he can offer more if he was a little lighter. I think he'll be even better overall, as he'll regain some speed, agility and possibly some more height on his leap. He'll be just as effective in carrying the ball, as he's still huge, but he'll be even harder to tackle at speed.

With Hoffman as the "playmaker" on his side of the field the only way Vidot was going to score tries was out muscling his opponent to get to the line.

It would be kind of funny if Bennett put Oates at centre inside Vidot though.
