Finals scenarios

Although, on the form from the weekend, the bulldogs are ripe for the picking. I agree though, better to finish 6th and try and knock over the Titans

Bulldogs can bounce back. Titans i think are screwed.

I think we need to win to maintain our momentum in any event. *fingers crossed*

Then if we beat Titans (which we should, no real excuse) then we'll play the loser of Manly or Melbourne (provided that team 1 and 2 both win in week 1, which I think they will).

And to be honest, I'd rather play Melbourne in week 2 of the Semi than Manly. I hope we do Play Melbourne, revenge will hopefully be sweet. Long way yet though - firstly, I want to see us be ruthless against the Raiders!

Just on that, where would the game be played?

Brisbane?

We'll definitely play Titans in the first week if we win. I'm happy with that.

OMG!

Don't tell me we're going to have Melbourne @ Suncorp again in week 2!!! Two years in a row would be too painful.... [icon_non

Jesus 6th isn't a great position to be in is it.... Manly/Melbourne in week 2... oooft.

If Broncos and Knighs win which is a big chance we play Dogs at home and the loser of Storm v Manly is gorrrrn.

I doubt a fourth or fifth placed side has ever felt more vulnerable, it is on paper close to a knock out semi. Manly must surely have considered losing to the Tits.

I don't think I could handle that again!!!!

No reason why we can't get a home preliminary final.

We'll beat Titans.
Storm will beat Manly (but winner of this is irrelevant)
Knights can beat the Dogs - Dogs were atrocious and miss Kimmorley. Knights were sensational.
Eels can beat Saints - Saints will find it hard to put the same scoreline on again. Eels are a huge chance this week.

The Manly v Storm game is massive. Providing Broncs and Knights win the winner of Storm and Manly goes to the prelim and the loser is out.

If we land a home preliminary, i am defo there!

Exactly - its ridiculous. If this doesn't show the flaw on the top 8 system we have now - nothing will. I really think Manly/Storm are so hard done by. It's garbage. Anyway.

Rock - I agree about Manly. Manly in an open game @ Suncorp might not be so good for us. As nifty as our backline is, our team can't really keep up with the 'pace' if Manly up the tempo to their liking. I do think we have a better chance against the storm in a grinder BUT you're just never safe unless you're 6+ up with Inglis/Slater in the opposition. Argh

THEN we have the Dragons... seriously... its a tough road for the Broncs!

i'm just happy we made the finals. anything else is a bonus.

I completely agree with this one. I truly believe that the Saints gave absolutely everything to win last week and it would not suprise me if they lost this week and drop out of the finals at one point or another.

Warren Smith was saying last night that it is hard to pick a GF winner, because there isn't any one team that is in perfect (or even really good) form, and I tend to agree.

OK, best case (and likely) scenario this week, IMO, is:

Week 1
1. Melbourne def Manly in a bruising encounter. Inglis, Slater and Smith suffer 4-week injuries
2. Broncos def Titans
3. Knights def Bulldogs
4. St George-Illawarra def Parramatta

Parramatta and Manly eliminated.
Melbourne and St George-Illawarra progress to week 3.

Week 2
1. Broncos vs Bulldogs @ Suncorp Stadium
2. Newcastle vs Titans @ Newcastle (? or Sydney?)

Week 3
1. Melbourne vs Broncos @ Etihad Stadium
2. St George-Illawarra vs Titans @ ANZ Stadium

Grand Final
Broncos vs Titans :-)

Can you imagine if it was a Broncos vs Titans grand final at ANZ?

You would hope David Gallop and ANZ Stadium would bite the bullet at move it to Suncorp.

Yep. They managed to all but fill it for Broncos vs Storm a few years back, so no reason they wouldn't fill it for Broncos-Titans.

Afterall, the Broncos have lots of fans.

Bite what bullet? It's impossible to move a GF 1 week out. [icon_lol1.

Secondly, why would you move a to a stadium which holds 30,000 LESS. [icon_shru

It just doesn't make sense.

LOL um gee I don't kno maybe beacuse 80% probably more of the Titans and Broncos fans live in QLD. makes sense to me.

Just a question- If we beat the Titans, do they get knocked out or do the top 4 get a second chance?
