Finals Week 1

It looked like a painful landing, but this time I thought it was the right decision not to send him off or anything. Waqa kind of jumped out of nowhere right onto him.

Waqa didn't jump into him, Farrell purposely took out his legs before he even had the ball.

I implore you to look at what Farrell is looking at from 0:01 and his actions from that point.

It just looked like a freak accident. He was just trying to push him over the sideline. In the video Waqa definitely angles his jump infield.

Farrell didn't intend to flip Waqa on his head but at the same time his actions were reckless and could have resulted in serious consequences.

It's a bit messed up how that probably helped Souths more than it hurt them too. Everything about it was illegal.

True enough, even though I do think it was mostly just bad luck (the injury part at least), I can see what you mean too. Farrell never had his eyes on the ball, just on Waqa the entire time.

Souths really did a Storm on the Storm tonight, they didn't really attempt anything fancy just played hard and disciplined finals footy that got the better of the Storm. Melbourne we're off the pace and made to many mistakes with the ball and to many passes went to ground and they looked tired early, they might be at the end of the line.

South Sydney played well enough to win but I still think they need to improve in some areas as their kicking game was quite ordinary and some of their blokes looked nervous early on but got settled as the game went on. Their defense won them the game as they won with only 45% of possession and defended strongly across the park.

I thought the NO TRY call against Slater was tough as Chambers looked like he was competing for the ball and Merritt lost it backwards and Slater grounded it easily, still can't be blamed for Melbourne's loss though. Hope Sisa Waqa is ok though :crying:

Can you imagine Souffs having

8. G Burges
10. T Burgess
13. S Burgess

next year, or maybe the one after? That's just almost unfair if T and S keep improving.

About time we have some bloody forwards who can actually bend the line.

How can souths be under the cap?

By not being over it, contracts reflect form when signed at the time.

It's a player's prerogative to cry poor like DCE and get an upgrade whilst still under contract.

fair enough . But you would expect Inglis to be on heaps. Burgess S would have been the most valuable Englishman when he signed. McQueen origin , Teo origin, Reynolds. Future origin, they will have major cap problems in the near future.

That is why we have offloaded a fair few players, only topped up and extended contracts and signed Joel Reddy :001_rolleyes: for 2014. We have a few juniors in NYC in Aaron Gray and Tyrone Phillips who are close to stepping up but a little behind where Dylan Walker was when he stood up. Api from Norths who is an excellent back up hooker or backrower as well.

Matt King, Roy Asotasi, Michael Crocker are all leaving and they'd be on some biggish money.

Ahhh, the old salary cap cheats allegations, now you know how Broncos fans felt everytime they achieved anything note-worthy.

Yep. Go back 10 years and it is "how can Souths spend their cap on these players". Now it is "how do they fit these players under". Love it.

What's wrong with GI? His defence was good but MIA in attack

Probably still his knee. Limiting his use in attack so he doesn't risk further injury. Break should do him wonders and I reckon he will probably be seen a lot more in attack.
