First Test- Australia v Pakistan

Surely, if nothing else Head has showed his temperament at international level.

I'm sure it's a tick in his box. Lehmann was the A coach when Maddinson did well and impressed him.

I think Head is just amongst a group of bstsmen in Shield averaging mid 30's/40's and showing glimpses of form but not nailing it.

It's Maddinson's turn at the moment and I don't think two Tests is enough to discard him.

How could you possibly sustain that having just said you didn't know who he was till the ODI against New Zealand not even a month ago.

Wtf? I never said that, are you just making shit up as you go along now?

Did I miss you list the other games you've seen?

"Quite a bit" does not equal 3 games for Australia, the follow up was simply mocking Maddinson's severe lack of ability to score runs, I've seen a load of Head in the BBL, Matador Cup & in his appearances for Australia in the shorter form, I'm also constantly following all the young players in Australia through every single shield match-up to see how they're tracking and have been consistently impressed by how he's progressed over the years. (You can act all high and mighty because you get to see him once or twice a year when SA comes to play at the Gabba, but you're really no more knowledgeable on the subject than anyone else)

Maddinson on the other hand impressed me about 3 years ago, and has done very little since to justify selection in any rep teams.. Yet you keep defending him like he's actually earned his spot.. For someone who constantly harps on about how important Shield runs are, you seem to be constantly avoiding the fact that he's batting at a marvellous average of 28 over the last 24 months. Do you honestly believe he was the best option? Patterson, Lehmann & Head all had a better argument for getting their Test debut in game 3 against South Africa.

That evening session was disgraceful. Terrible bowling except for Starc with no support from the field.

Smith shouldn't have asked for the extra time. We needed to rest and regroup

You haven't named Head before now; you didn't want him for the previous four Tests this summer. What's he changed? You didn't even have confidence in him at home.

I strongly disagree that not watching cricket you can learn as much. That's just ridiculous. So If I said I have never watched the Broncos but here is my opinion that would be ok? I haven't seen this movie but here is my review? Be all good?

You're right I do bang on about the importance of Shield runs; but it serves no point. I can say unless you have scored 10, 000 runs and average 60 and score a 1000 runs a year you shouldn't play Tests- but who would be in the side?

I have acknowledged post Hobart that setting the bar like that isn't appropriate at the moment and they need to go back to late 80's and pick on feel and instincts. based on fight. Out of that came three new players. Those three players deserve a proper amount of time.

Watching Pakistan over the last four days/nights. They're just a typical touring side from the sub continent. Why is it so hard for them to come here?

69 years, 29 series, 0 wins.

They've had some of the greatest players ever. Dev, Tendulkar, Laxman, Muralitharan, Dravid, Inzi, Quadir, and Gavaskar but a giant nothing.

Even for all our struggles we have won there 12 times.

I can only put it down to they have had great players normally batsman but apart from Dev no great fast bowlers to take advantage of bounce and faster pitches.

Poor fielding too, they have never been great fielders so they come here to our big grounds and just leak runs and drop catches.

Waqar and Wasim say Hi.

Jeez badly needing a break through now. And the field setting is leaving a bit to be desired. Get an attacking field in there

Good if they do start enforcing follow ons, finally get over the Waugh years and the effect of THAT test in India.

Lyon drops one, though that is unfair as it was a VERY tough chance but this loss could be bad for this emerging side.

Boy that ball was going a long way over, really bad call by the ump there and that is why you have DRS.

Serious question here, why have our bowlers not been taught how to smash through a tail yet? Don't bowl half trackers looking for an edge, bowl on the stumps. Either they hit the ball or the stumps are smashed.
