sad roni has to go, im a huge fan :( glad hes not playing in england tho, hes too good hehe. good to see him in serie a at least.

The EPL is the best league in the world...this is a fact.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

hehe i am a wind up merchant, in a sense, but i do actually believe it in a way. everyone on here knows i dont like EPL and most are fine with it. i mean i cant deny that english clubs are doing very well right now. but for the style of football that im into watching, england does not do it for me. so in my eyes, serie a and la liga are better to the premier league, because they play the style of football that i like to watch. so, to potentially lose a talent like ronaldinho, to a league i dont enjoy watching, was a bit worrying.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

I like the aggressive nature of the epl but also love the skill and finesse of both italy and spain. I hate the way english sides are buying players from all corners to keep up with eachother because its cheaper than buying or training players from home, the major reason as I see it that England are so god awful despite how good their league is.

In their defence, their only other alternative is to develop talented British sportsmen. icon_thumbs_u

Your opinion, i don't know how that is a fact, ofcourse if you want to go by English sides doing well in Europe, i can't argue much with that, except the fact that about 5 or so years earlier, Spanish teams were dominating, was Spain the best league in the world back then? If Barcelona and Real Madrid were to be in the CL final next year, would Spain again be the best league in the world next year?

Re: Football Transfer Thread

Don't mean to be ignorant but can somenoe explain to me how the Transfer method works?

Like if I am playing for Man U and Barca offers Man U $50 million for my services, how much do I get paid?

If you're still on contract, Barca would be paying Man U $50 to buy you. If Man U accepted it (decided to sell you) then you would be able to negotiate with Barca about your wages.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

It is also pretty standard (written into his contract) for the player to get paid a % of the transfer fee that the club receives. Along with previous club % and agents fee % which can affect the actual value of the transfer to the selling club.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

I read this the other day and thought it was just a massive piss take.

On Monday morning, though, the Uzbekistan League leaders announced in an official statement on their website that they had landed the 27-year-old forward on a six-month deal.
The news was confirmed by Kuruvchi sporting director Bahtier Babayev, who has said Eto'o will sign with the club later this week on a contract to be determined by performances.
"Eto'o will arrive in Tashkent on Thursday and he will sign a contract with our club, at least up until the end of 2008," Babayev said.

Now though...

Re: Football Transfer Thread

Yes.....WTF. He could have been playing for a top club in Europe....but he went to Uzbekistan? Where did that come from...

Re: Football Transfer Thread

Clearly bullshit. He may very well be on holiday. That is a wind-up honestly.

Does Uzbekistan...do.. anything? Are they in the Asian Champions League. WTF.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

Found this little piece on their site, quote from Eto'o.

Today at InterContinental-Tashkent hotel was press-conference for mass media with Samuel Eto’O.

- There was a really suggestion from club Kuruvchi. That’s way I’m in Tashkent right now. One the reasons why I’m here, to get know about this people and every interesting thing belong to this country. I just want to say something, but there still more suggestions from other clubs and I will choose one of the rightist for me. Tonight I will departure to Spain and there I will confirm my final opinion.

I have a deal with Vice-President of Kuruvchi Tavakkal Isomilov and if I come to the rightist decision I will tell him first and we promise keep this date in secret.

He's probably getting paid some ludicrous fee just to visit the club and all, he won't actually sign for them or anything.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

The "rightist" decision. Either that is falsified, or... he's just awful at english.

Chelsea plan record Kaka bid

From correspondents in Rome
July 21, 2008

CHELSEA'S billionaire Russian owner Roman Abramovich is set to obliterate the transfer world record with a €150 million ($A244.76 million) bid for AC Milan's Kaka, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The daily sports newspaper claims Abramovich is ready to surpass even the €100 million ($A163.17 million) Real Madrid are reportedly willing to pay in a bid to lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United.

Gazzetta claim Chelsea's move for Kaka is tantamount to a 'mission impossible' but adds that Abramovich will not be deterred.

And according to Kaka's spokesman in Brazil Diogo Kotscho, the Brazilian would net 10 per cent of the world record transfer fee.

"The Kaka-Chelsea operation would benefit everyone involved," said Kotscho.

"For Kaka there would be 10 per cent of the transfer fee - €15 million - as well as a new contract."

Milan, though, are desperate to hold onto the current world player of the year as they try to win their first Serie A title since 2004.

They recently won the race - with Manchester City - to prise another Brazilian Ronaldinho from Barcelona and will be loath to lose their best player just after adding world class attacking reinforcements to their squad.

But now even Kaka seems to be warming to the idea of a switch to London, saying before leaving Sao Paulo to return to Milan: "These are two teams that want me - I don't know how things will finish."

Kotscho, though, is pushing for the move claiming: "Chelsea is the right team (for Kaka). It's a team that wants to win everything."

However, Chelsea boss Peter Kenyon has denied a record-breaking bid to lure Kaka from AC Milan but said the club was still chasing Real Madrid's Robinho.

"There was no offer made. I have read the same articles. They have made it clear that he is not for sale and we will make it clear we have not made an offer," Kenyon said in Guangzhou, China where the team kick off their pre-season tour.

"There is no reason to negotiate over something they don't want to do and we have not made an offer."

Milan are determined not to lose Kaka and the club's vice-president Adriano Galliani claimed over the weekend he is irreplaceable and dismissed notions of a Chelsea bid of this nature.

"Ricky (Kaka) is an untransferable player and Chelsea have never made such a bid," he said.

There is more than a battle for Kaka between Chelsea and Milan at stake, though, with Italian football's pride also on the line.

A week ago the press lauded the return of Italian football to the transfer top table after Milan beat off English opposition to sign Ronaldinho.

That was seen as a reversal of recent trends that had seen Italy's best unable to compete with teams from Spain and particularly England for the signatures of top players.

But if an English team manages to lure the world's best player away from an Italian team, a dark gloom will surely descend once again over Italian football's collective ego.

Woah dude. I love Chelsea.. but.. god damn, that's a lot of money. That's astonishing. Some clubs aren't even worth that much.

That would wipe AC Milan's debt clean.

Re: Football Transfer Thread

Chelsea....hmmmm, my query is where are they going to play all of these centre midfielders? Makalele, Essien, Lampard, Deco, Ballack, Cole (a born central attacking midfielder) and they want Kaka (who plays best when fairly central). They will play the same boring game hoofing it forward to Drogba to play it down for there half dozen CM's....yawn.
