Greg Bird guilty of assaulting girlfriend

It's completely fucking obvious to everybody - including the appeals judge - that the story is full of shit. But our justice system doesn't let probability or judgement come into it. The evidence has to stand for what it is, despite how completely untrustworthy and scumbag ridden both "witnesses" are.

For arguments sake, let's assume this story is true. If it is, why is Bird still with someone who was so high she was going to injure him with a glass (either by throwing it at him or hitting him with it) and who could have prevented him being found guilty and going through all of this in the first place simply by telling the truth?

And if it isn't true, why is she still with someone who injured her with a glass?

Ah, ain't love grand?

Marcus Einfeld got 3 years for lying under the oath (which Bird didn't do) and Attempting to Pervert the course of justice (which he did) so I can't see a jail term being ruled out yet.

It's odd that they had no problem trying to get Bird's mate to take the blame when they couldve just said it was an accident.

Retards.

Einfeld was a judge thou and should have known better - further, Einfeld, had engaged in both lying to the court, getting witnesses to lie for him and falsifing court documents - plus there is a need to ensure that the judiciary is being properly policed

I can't believe any team in Aus would actually want to offer his a contract considering the circumstances, I know his conviction was quashed, but I know I will be calling out, and getting those around me to chant "Jail-Bird" whenever he plays against us

What can you say? Love is blind:

Australian version of OJ.

How does his GF remember with clarity what happened if she was so spaced out at the time.

So much wrong with this. Still he will have to live knowing everyone else knows what a scummer he really is.

Am absolutely shaking my head at this - he is scum and she is an idiot.

And seriously:

Mr Bird said he tried to convince Ms Milligan to tell the truth - that it had been an accident - but Ms Milligan did not think anyone would believe Mr Bird had not been involved.

''I didn't believe anybody would believe it was an accident - here's a guy who everyone wants to believe is an aggressive footballer,'' she told the court.

''I didn't want his name associated with it in any way.''

How dumb is she? She really thought that a) trying to blame someone else and then b) saying nothing at all would help people believe he wasn't involved.

i love how apparently neither of them have any idea how the broken glass ended up jamming in her face lol.

oh well, this puts greg inglis firmly in the 'not guilty' basket.

I just can't believe reports that Greg Bird's legal team is now considering action against the Sharks for sacking him....

*FACEPALM*

Let's wait until Inglis's date in court and we'll hear (hopefully) the full story...not the fairy story Bird and Milligan made up.

So the Cowboys and Titans are in a tussle to sign Greg Bird.

We have a couple of Tits fans around (Bannermania, Diehard, bigjim)...I'd be very interested to hear your take on this.

Frankly if the Broncos were showing interest and signing him I'd be ringing up to cancel my season membership.

both clubs need a decent 5/8 dont they? so i can see why they would be considering it.

Yes, but you would think they'd consider cost vs benefit - loss of respect and reputation in the community vs having a possibly decent player.

Possibly decent? I'd say he's a damn good player.
No I wouldn't want him at the broncos, please don't even consider it cullen!

He was pretty good. He hasn't played in the NRL for 1.5 years, seemed to put on a lot of weight while away from the game, and has only had a stint in the very ordinary ESL since.

I would think his performances will be average for at least half a season.

Is it worth the hassle waiting for that form to happen?

Just because Bird has played in the 6 before doesn't make him a 5/8th.

No but in the article that is where the Cowboys are talking about playing him. And id say the same with the Titans.

Ok so his actually a Ball playing Lock. But he can cut the cheese at 5/8th with time.
