Haas - Off Field Dramas

so what .... he broke the law while suspended ... he needs another couple of weeks added on at the very least ... and this time he can't blame his family

If his first offence is a measuring stick, he needs another 8 weeks.

Because this is at least twice as bad as not ratting out a family member

fine with me ... maybe that will teach him a lesson ...

i'd rather we come down hard on him now, rather than end up with Carney 2.0

You must live a holy life. Without fault. I’d like to live like foordy for just one day, to see what it’s like, way up there.

Difference this time is he has broken the law. Its not just the Broncos he has to deal with now. Its the NRL integrity unit and the Police.

i've never broken the law ... i've also never been given a $3 million contract to play a game...

he has now done both of those things

That’s my point. This time he deserves a punishment. Last time, he didn’t.

If you break the law you’re going to have a bad time.

What he has done this time round amounts to little more than a speeding ticket or a parking fine.

Why was he wearing white pumas to court? Is nobody mentoring him on appropriate dress standards when in court, representing yourself and your football club?

I think driving without a license is a bit more than a speeding fine. In the current NRL climate, i dont think its going to go well for him. He is an idiot, plain and simple.

How bloody disappointing.

He's really not doing himself any favours and after defending him for his last incident he goes out and does something stupid while already serving a suspension.

Honestly pretty pissed off, he needs to pull his head in. The club is paying him an insane amount of money on nothing but potential and all he's repaid so far is about 15 minutes of game time and multiple embarrassing negative stories.

If you care to hear my rebuttal to this sentiment read the earlier pages of this thread.

It was hyperbole against high and mighty foordy who has never broken the law

i have absolutely no interest with reading your rebuttal ... we have completely different philosophies ...

you think it is ok for a young player to breech the terms of his contract (without facing the consequences of that decision) as long as he has an excuse, maybe even brake the law which he has now also done ... maybe it is only talented players or Broncos fan favourites that you think should get these allowances made for them, i can't be sure of that

I on the other hand think that players should be held accountable for the actions (even if it means coming down on them more on the harsh side) ... hopefully that teaches them a lesson so they don't waste their talent.

We all read your rebuttal and just because you believe it doesn't mean everyone else does. In fact, I think most people would agree it seemed heavy handed but were happy the Broncs took the stance they did.

Given other experiences you say you have had, it is no wonder you side with him being given leniency. Regardless, still doesn't mean just because you believe it, it is true.

Clearly, this kid needs a stronger hand.

I figured you didn’t, but thought instead of typing out another wall of text that was the best way to respond.

With regards to the rest pretty much. I’d honour family over a contract.

I’ve got no vested interest in Payne, I’d have the same opinon of the situation if it was a fringe player at the storm (not that anyone would hear about it).

Other experiences lol.

I couldn’t afford to pay rego so drove unregistered. I needed to get to work, twice.

I also picked my mum up when she needed it and I got done.

Lock me up.

I feel you totally missed the point of the post.
