I do

no because i dont know the ins and outs of every aspect of a coaches role. i would choose a better team, thats for sure, and i certainly would be telling the club to throw money at the right people and to throw the wrong people out.

Sorry I thought the first sentence actually effects the second one. I guess there completely different things...

i give 100% credit to Bennett winning us the 2006 grand final.
I give 50% credit to the players and 50% credit to Bennett for us making the 2006 grand final.o

Someone mentioned Bennett not using players because they are not up to 'NRL standard'. How does one get to 'NRL standard' without ever being given a chance? NO competition in the world is going to make you 'ready' for the NRL.

Has Wayne lost his marbles? No, he is just becoming a scared old man. Good luck at the Saints.

Thats only because you have the same weakness in your genes as Stu does. I don't judge you for that man. Your doing well.

and what youre saying is that youre happy to credit him with a win, but not prepared to blame him for a loss. makes no sense to me.

the coach is responsible for wins and losses, how much so is the thing that changes. choosing the wrong team, putting players in positions that they shouldnt be in, etc etc decide how much responsibility falls on the coach. when those things screw your team over its the coaches fault. when they pay off - ie. Mal meninga with Hunt/Slater in Origin 2, its a credit to the coach.

And like Bennett with Hodges to fullback in 2006, credit to the coach. Yet all you can say about 2006 is we won only because of Locky and Hodges.

Yes the coach should take responsibility for losses as well as credit for wins and I certainly do not agree with Bennett's selections in the halves over the last few weeks, but at the end of the day I am 100% confident that we currently have the best man for the job leading our team into the Finals.

didnt he only put Hodges there because hunt was injured?

but when Hunt came back Hodges was still fullback.

Hunt played the first half of the Prelim final at fullback, then we were down 20-6 at halftime and we needed a masterstroke. Bennett provided it by switching Hodges to fullback. Not so quick to remember the good things hey? [icon_wink

Who has excused Bennett for the tri nations defeat? Or the team slumps?

That wasn't his fault, Lockyer got injured and at the time he was carrying Australia.

He seems to forget that bennett is "The Most Successful coach in premiership history"

oh i forgot that because he won 5 premierships up until 2000 that that means hes still the best coach now in 2008. silly me, what was i thinking

'most successful' does not equal 'best now'.

Jeb, iirc Hodges was named at fullback for the preliminary final against the bulldogs. hodges was fullback for the last few rounds too iirc, so switching him there in the finals wasnt just a masterstroke out of the blue.

Well you are wrong. Hodges started the game in the centres. In the finals in 2006:
Week 1 v Dragons: Hunt injured, Hodges started at fullback
Week 2 v Knights: Hunt plays whole game at fullback, Hodges at left centre
Week 3 v Bulldogs: Hunt plays first half at fullback, Hodges at left centre. Hodges switched to fullback second half, Hunt to wing.
Grand Final: Hodges fullback, Hunt left wing.

Hey guys new to this forum im a fan of bennett but lets look at it in reality The roster the boncos have had from day one anyone could have won that many grandfinals maybe more. With a club like the broncos it is hard to judge a coach on the teams merits when there is always the indervidual brilliance at the broncos in at least 5 players. In The first 15 years the broncos dominated qld and Australian sides. Now If bennett was coaching souths, Cronulla or one other of the lower finishing teams do you think he would be the most successfull coach. Now days with the storm half of the Qld juniors go down there and succedd, No storm our black line would still be the aussie one . image if the storm were there from day one and half the talent we had, would have been down there. Take away half our premierships and not the most successfull coach of all time. True or not

He made the players what they are, they didn't start out superstars did they, look at hodges at roosters and when he came under bennett at the broncos.

Champion team and Coaches, make rep players not the other way around.

It's true that it was mostly up to the players, but we wouldn't have as many quality players if it wasn't for Bennett. He was one of the biggest reasons players wanted to play for the Broncos, so he must have been doing something really great with the side.

Not to mention made alot of them to what they were, look at Wallace at penrith and Wallace at Brisbane.

Do you ever hear a qlder say when i was a kid i didnt want to play for Broncos, No they werent born superstars, But any pontential qld superstar of the past was only going to be a bronco. If players like Langer and lockyer were coached by Bellemy they would still be the best in the world for their time . Yeh they wern't born superstars but it is easy for any top 10 coach to coach a side when so much natural talent his handed to you on a platter

I'm not speaking about top tier players, I'm speaking about players who weren't so good that he made good. Justin hodges??????? I didn't see anything good about him at the roosters.

i know what your saying but.................
Hodges played first grade at 17 for the broncos if that not natural talent what is?
He was no were near the player he is today, then True

He always had the ability but not the focus or maturity and knee problems
But now his at home surrounded by bronco culture and family and his matured and a good coach
