we just got lucky that all the other teams kept their worst til last and that hodges and lockyer played out of their skins.

And the 2007 Storm were just lucky that it was the most mediocre year on record for every other team.

nah, Its because of Smith and Inglis they won that grand final

the 2007 storm team is one of the only teams of the last decade and a half that would be able to give the Broncos of 98 a run for their money IMO.
[icon_lol1. Our forward pack would own theirs by a country mile.

Seriously, the only Storm player of 2007 I'd have put in that Broncos team of 1998 would be Cameron Smith instead of Phil Lee. He'd seriously be the only one that would've forced a change.

Even the halves pairing of the Broncos Walter & Langer is way more creative than Inglis & Cronk!

TBH I'd say the Storm of 07 season is probably the best team since the Broncos of 98 to win the premiership, but I don't think they'd give the 98 team a run for their money. I think the Bulldogs salary cap team of 02 vs the Storm 07 team would've been a good game.

Yeah, and even Broncos 2000 vs Storm 2007.
Parramatta 2001 vs Storm 2007 or Broncos 1998 would also be interesting. Shame they choked to a lesser team in the Grand Final. The Eels were one of the best teams I've ever seen that year.

Oh yeah!!! The only worse choke in history would have to be in the NFL last year!

Unless the Storm 07 side was forced to play in unlimited interchange. See that's the problem with comparing teams, players, COACHES from one year to another. Rules change a lot, and that one was massive.

Think of the variation in rules Bennett has dealt with since 1988. 5m rule, no stripping, 1 man stripping, unlimited interchange, 6 interchanges, 8m rule, 10m rule, changes to kicking laws...he's seen it all. And yet his teams still stay at the top of the heap.

What a legend.

yep, best team to ever not win the grand final IMO.

Agreed, but I'd go even further. See, I'm only 23 and have only been really CLOSELY scrutinising and analysing the game for about the past 12 years. Sheesh, that Eels team is one of the best I've seen. 98 Broncos, 01 Eels and 07 Melbourne teams on pretty much a 3-way tie when it comes to the best teams of the last decade IMO.

Exactly. The man has rebuilt the team 4-5 times.

At the end of the day, Bennett has the results to prove what a great coach he is. Not only that, players want to play under Bennett. To me, those 2 things show just what a great coach and person Bennett is. Frank can shove all his "we only did well for every other reason under the sun apart from the coach" bull5hit up is ass

Not realy anymore... he has lost it. :|

I think we should judge the season at the end of the year, injuries, origin etc hasnt helped, but we have a good run in, so if we get players back on deck, I can see us peaking come finals, dont knock Bennett yet, still a few tricks in the Old Dog.

All you have to do is look at the number of players who have turned down Bennett to play at the Dragons. As much as it pains me to say it, Bennett is no longer the pillar of strength he once was.

That could be for a number of reasons though. They got better offers up here, want to stay in Brisbane for personal reasons, or they may just hate St George like so many of us do up here.

I'm not just talking about Broncos Players Jebadude. There was a big write up in the Courier Mail a few weeks back about all the players that turned down Bennett. Te'o etc.
