I'm not just talking about Broncos Players Jebadude. There was a big write up in the Courier Mail a few weeks back about all the players that turned down Bennett. Te'o etc.

Well in Te'o's case, he might've gotten a better offer from the Tigers. [icon_shru

There's a massive lack of faith and respect in Peter Doust from players. Nearly as bad as Bruno :P

Frank can shove all his "we only did well for every other reason under the sun apart from the coach" bull5hit up is ass
and you can shove all the 'bennett is the best coach around' bull5hit up your arse too icon_thumbs_u

I don't think Bennett is the best coach around. If you could read, you'd see I already agreed with you that Bellamy is currently the best coach around. I just don't agree with you that Bennett is a has been, has had little success over the past 7-8 years nor that the Broncos would have had the same success they've had over the past 20 years even if a plank of wood was coaching them

i really dont see any point in Bennet staying for even a day longer in the job
At the end of the day his focus is on preparing St George Illawarra for next year. Evidenced by the fact that he is actively recruiting players for them. Which he is more than entitled to do, its just a joke that its being done while he is the Bronco's head coach.
As soon as it becomes certain that a coach is not going to be the coach in the next year, they should just quit on the spot, as it turns to shit every single time (brian smith, graham murray, neil henry, steve folkes, etc etc etc)

My friend... this is Wayne Bennett. Don't say things like that, season isn't over dude. [icon_wink

That may well be true, and Bennett's record - irrespective of the stellar players he has had under him in the past, is not IMO, less important than the fact he has been mythologised.

However what is is IMO indisputable is that he has been instrumental in raising the Broncos to the dizzy heights the team has reached over a 10 year period.

Problem is, with the exception of '06, the last 5 years. That's where the difficulty arises in unpicking the myth from the reality.

Except all those clubs fall in a mess and can't win a game, yet bennet has kept the broncos strong this year and still are genuine top 4 contenders, Which proves how good he is, and how well he manged the situation, yes he could of left the place a mess, but the boys are playing awesome this year (forget the last 4 weeks with no play makers)

The injuries that we suffered once WB got our season back on track was what made us crap, injuries are something that a coach can't control.

I agree - I think we were starting to look pretty damn good last year until Lockyer went down with the knee injury. And we weren't too bad in 2002 I think it was, got beaten in the preliminary final by the roosters iirc.

Yep, as much as I hate to admit it, the Eels team on 2001 was probably equal with the Broncos team of 1998 as the best attacking team I have ever seen.

WHAT! That Eels side was good not great they were the best of an average bunch that year, their halves were Buetner and JT for gods sake. Had a very good consistent forward pack with Brad Drew (admittedly in great form) at hooker. They just played very well as a team, if you put them up against any great teams before or after they would have been beaten.

MB: A champion team will always beat a team of champions. Parramatta played perfect football up until the last couple of weeks (lucky not to get done by the depleted Broncos in the prelim).

They would've given the Broncos of 1998 a good run for their money. I still think the Broncos would've won, but it wouldn't be a cakewalk.

I actually say a stat the other day that showed that in 1998 the Broncos set the record for most tries in a season, and in 2001 the Eels broke that record. (they scored about 10 more tries than the 1998 Broncos)

Not just Lockyer...it was Lockyer, Tate, Berro, Hunt, Ennis, Stagg, Carroll etc etc etc....to still win a game or 2 was amazing!

hopefully we are getting all our injuries out of the way early this year. have a strong finish to the season.

If we just make the top 8 we will have alot of teams in th top 4 worried where we finish.

It's Lockyer's leadership we lack - and his uncanny reading of play making opportunities - as against the Eels.

As I said before - we are still too much a one man band.

hopefully that will change with wallace stepping up a notch next year.

I agree, but only to a certain extent.

We definitely lack that X-factor when Locky isn't there.

However, when Lockyer's missing but we also field a team including Hunt, Hodges, Wallace, Ennis, Marsh and Carroll, we can still beat pretty much any team in the comp.

It's all because we lack a game plan... when Locky is there he can hatch a plan on the run, when he's not there the other guys don't seem to be able to do that. If the team was drilled over and over with a certain game plan, then even though they would miss one player or another they would still be able to follow the plan and most of the time get it done due to the wealth of other players still out there. But all too often the team just runs around like a team of good players and not a good playing team.
