'Homesick' Ben Hannant may quit Bulldogs

RENEGADE how can broncospit be right,?? he holds contrary positions !!! I still see no evidence of greed, only aspersions cast over his BHs character. Re-read at least my post about the possibility he is doing it for all the right reasons, you never know, there may be more than two types of people.

Warren Smith wrote a nice editorial is this week's Big League about this. He largely says what renegade is saying but also makes the point that the Bulldogs are now the ones losing out just because he is homesick even though he knew full well what he was getting into.

Which is why the Bulldogs want a player swap as compensation. They aren't saying they won't accommodate Hannant's request to leave, because forcing an unhappy player to stay is a waste of time.

And so did the Bulldogs even stating publicly that they were fully aware of the possibility of his family and himself having trouble adjusting BEFORE they signed him.

Maybe I can empathise more with Hannant because I went through a similar thing. I moved to Sydney for a job opportunity, hated every second of it, wanted to come home and asked my old work for my old job back. Fortunately for me, they completely welcomed me back. I wasn't at any point (either leaving or coming back) chasing massive money - the monetary difference was negligable in my case.

However what this boils down to from my perspective is that professional football clubs exist to win premierships. The Broncos are in need of a high quality prop to assist us to achieve this. Ben Hannant is one of the best in the business ATM, so if he wants back and we have the money to make him a reasonable offer, then bring him back.

Gold Coast Titans captain Scott Prince says the club must kill off speculation of a deal with the Bulldogs to secure representative prop Ben Hannant before it creates disharmony among players.

Prince warned if the speculation was allowed to continue, players would begin looking around at each other.

"That's when the questions start - `Am I the one who will be asked to go'," said Prince.

"So instead of a united team focused on one goal, there's a distraction.

Excellent work by Prince. He is right though, how could you commit yourself every week if the thought of being trading is haunting you?

Lachy I thought if anyone would understand how players could do that it would be you - after all, that is exactly the situation felt most of the year by American athletes in the major sports there.

American football is different. None of those guys quite have loyalty.

If you're on the trading block in the NFL, you know it. They've told you straight up. In the NRL, you have no idea until someone contacts you and says that you've been traded.

I think it's great work by the captain to say, "listen Hannant, we'd love to chat, but for gods sake wait until the off-season, it's only been one-round."

I would agree about the NFL players generally knowing if they are on the block but the NBA is more unpredictable sometimes. I just think it's something they have become used to over the years and it will inevitably happen more and more over here too - and I don't necessarily think that it's a bad thing

Absolute Rubbish. I don't know if you've read his latest article but it basically says he's coming back (from his mouth that is) now because now he can get the same pay but in QLD.

If he couldn't get the same pay in QLD he would stay their. He's a lyer and a wanker, please don't go near him Broncos.

It's a business, emotions don't come into it. If he wants back Broncos would be idiots to not very seriously consider him. Our weakness is up front and he's perhaps the best prop in the game or close to it. He's also a very good person off field who wouldn't give negative media to the club from doing stupid things.

OK - so now I'm confused [icon_shru broncospwn - what is your actual opinion? Do you want the Broncos to get Hannant back or not?

If you read the two posts properly you would understand.
Rocky, nice cheap shot.

Read the very first line of the second post you quoted. From a business perspective they would be silly not to consider him, the first post is my opinion, all good?

Your maturity rises with every new name call. I'll be the bigger man and won't go back against you with name calling.

Which is funny btw because when I pm'd u what you meant by broncosperm you said "sorry...I take it back" and than you go in again twice. All good, if you're trying to be offensive over the net, believe me I don't care. I would care if it was in real life and you said it to my face but in that case you wouldn't have the balls to anyway.

You just got pwned by pwn. I admire you for sticking up for what you believe in and not taking a backwards step bpwn. Your opinions may be a little whack sometimes, just like mine, but you're definitely an interesting character and good value.

If anyone watched Das Fussballschau last night, what are your opinions over the sincerity of BH's "interview"? The jury is definitely still out with me. He could convince anyone though. Very confident and well presented. That aspect was a welcome change from the usual reserved, expression challenged and ineloquent nuffies they have on nine times out of ten.

Also impressed with Noddy Kimmorley on NRL Tactics. He's refreshing to listen to and very insightful. His knowledge of his opponents is superb and very detailed if nothing else. Great viewing.

Allright, I did PM you because the sperm thingy was a little over the top but the deliberate misspelling was intended of course. I was just remorseful that I had used that word. I don't mind the other efforts though.

Also, my name is both a play on my name AND indicative of my stature. I am a big ,powerful and extremely aggressive man when required and fear does not course through my veins. I am however not stupid. If I felt the need, and we'd met be assured you'd be left in no doubt.

Anyway.................. what "could" the broncos offer the Million Dollar Man if they wanted him?

I doubt that would be enough
