How should the club spend 800k?

Cobbo’s long term position should be centre imo. May end up there next year if we move Herbie to fullback. I hope we can keep TMM though I think we need him to challenge for a premiership.

as for a spine of cobbo,May,Reynolds, mozer next year - zero chance, I’m sure 1910 would say that also. We’ll be challenging for a prem next year, we’re not gonna blow that with inexperience.
Yep. Hopefully our spine next year is Herb, TMM, Reyno, Paix with Cobbo at left centre.

I feel sorry for him watching this post match interview, he is shattered.

You have to ask who was advising him at the time....... and are they still calling the shots.

It was a short sighted decision to leave.......which now he has to live with its consequences.

That said.......everyone got to see and talk about RW much earlier than they may have, which I suppose equates to getting more money sooner than he may have by "waiting his turn" at Brisbane.

Mehh......I still don't harbour any grudges and still believe he is a real talent. I still wouldn;t give him a walk up start over TMM however

You don't always need an absolute star in the fullback position to win a premiership. No disregard to Edwards from Panthers but he's my example on someone that puts in effort and does the job for the wins. TMM can stay there and we keep our back 5 the same for stability and growth in our team to push for our next premiership.

Cleary and Yeo are probably the best in their respective position then you got Koroisau and Luai who are rep quality players, any run of the mill first grade standard fullback would be enough in their setup

We don't have that luxury, Reynolds goes down and people start wondering how will we go

We really don't need to sign anyone major.

Our spine leading into the 2023 finals:

1. Cobbo
6. Mam
7. Reynolds
9. Mozer

Realistically, this might not be strong enough to knock over Penrith in 2023, but it's the foundation we're building.

Depth, we have:

Martin (1, 6, 7)
Walters (6, 7, 9)
Paix (6, 7, 9)
Gamble (6, 7)

If I were Kevvie, I'd be polishing Billy's CV and shipping him to the ESL, maybe Catalans. His time here is ticking out.

Centres:

3. Staggs
4. Farnworth

Wings:

2. Oates
5. ?

Moving Cobbo to fullback opens up a wing. Currently signed candidates:

Lee
Mariner
Niu
Arthars
Pereira

Plenty of options there. If Mariner takes Herbie's centre, then Herbie takes the wing. Great result. Otherwise, it might be the other way around. Tesi is only depth now. He should be let go.

Forwards, we seem okay to me. I don't see us lacking in any position, but a gun ball playing lock wouldn't go wasted.

We could use a 6 or 9, of Adam's standard. But do we really need to throw in a stopgap in front of Blake and Ezra? I think no.

I would keep my eye on the younger grades for outside backs. We will need a winger to replace Oates, and they tend to blossom young.
Paix will be our 9 for 23. Mozer will be a couple of years off at least. No need to rush him

I'd be spending Haas's money on front ending contracts, with an eye to whoever will be Reynolds' replacement when he retires. At the moment the frontrunner would be Walker, and he might even be a smoky for a player swap if that's what it comes to. Keep Mam developing in Q Cup in 2023 and off the bench in 2024. Have Walker learning off Reynolds, then when Reynolds retires we put Walker at 7 and Mam at 6, but that time Mozer will be ready too. TMM, Cobbo & Herbie can fight it out for fullback.

Love the idea of Walker (Sam).......

can't see the Roosters ever wanting to let him go.....

2 wins with 30 plus points scored?

From the noise coming out of the club and his presence at training I think we'll start seeing Mozer later next year, the way we're seeing Ezra now. If Paix is hooker, where's that leave the coach's son?

I think when your using 2 Hookers it's important to have a 3rd option still since there is twice the risk of injury.

True, but I can't see Kevvie sending Billy back to the Cup because we have better options. I can also see Te Maire leaving because of the way the deck is being shuffled.

Given his age and where Mozer is in his career, I think it will be a gradual transition and he will still get decent game time.

TMM on the other hand is a different story atleast compared to this issue, considering we resigned Herbie and about to do so with Cobbo we will probably need to offload Haas before being able to keep him because he will be worth a big upgrade on the minimum he is on now.

The players being touted for fullback I don't think are putting real pressure on his position because Herbie hasn't played there at all at a Qcup level or higher apart from that 10 min stint at the end of a game last year, and I think Cobbo will probably transition to Centre(likely where Herbie is if he sticks his foot down on being a FB or he leaves).

That said isn't the cap going up next year? if so then that's probably not an issue then.

There will also be players that will be moving on like Ryan James, Albie, Kennedy, maybe Arthars. I am sure that they will be able to make a reasonable offer to TMM if he wants to stay.

Yeah dunno. I probably agree with @theshed that Te Maire is our best 1/6 option right now, but we have two players in Selwyn and Herbie who are clearly being earmarked to take his place, and that's not even mentioning Tesi. Out of those two, Herbie is the only one making noises that he wants the position and the way it's been presented to us almost seems like it's a condition. Selwyn, on the other hand, is the one we have to keep, and will need to spend big to retain. As in more than Kotoni. That money is better justified at fullback.

I would rather it all left alone for now, but I doubt this status quo will see out the end of next season, and probably won't start next season that way.

If Te Maire loses the back, then he's challenging Ezra for 6. If not early next season, then by the end of it. Ezra is the one with the long term contract, so it's a matter of when, not if, he gets 6. If I were Te Maire looking at this future, and factoring in the coach's son who is lurking on the bench, I'd be putting myself on the market.

I see Arthars turned out for the Seagulls on the weekend. I wonder that means for the Warriors plans to retain him next year?
