If Hunt Leaves...

I'm over Hodges at fullback. He had a few good games there but he's too prone to brain snaps and selfish to play at FB.

As opposed to when he plays right centre

FB is more key than right centre.

too bad we didnt sign Zillman this year.

am i right in saying that brent webb is off contract next year?

Gagai, Hoffman, Hodges, Beale

The Broncos have talent in spades to cover Hunt. Once you get over the initial shock and the sentimentality there really isn't anything to worry about from the team's persepective.

Hunt needs to grow up, spend some time overseas away from the fish bowl/God like status he's enjoyed (too much) in Brisbane since he was 17.

I've done a full 360 about this

Gagai? please... hes struggling in U20's...

here is a curve ball people might not have thought about

The Wolfman from Manly, off contract, move Hodges to fullback, throw the wolfman outside folau

You would be paying massive overs for Williams, who quite frankly is nothing more than a finisher, definitley nothing special on the wing. IMO his brother John is a lot better footballer.

Yup, I too don't rate Williams....if he didn't have a cool beard (at time of finals/WC), nobody would have been jumping up and down about him.

I expect Winterstein, Yow Yeh, Morris, etc to surpass him by season's end.

Folau is not much more than a finisher......but a damn good one.
Finishers aren't a waste of money.

especially if you have good centers inside them to get them the ball in space

But he DID have a cool beard, and therefore deserved all the plaudits he received.

Logic I can agree with, could you imagine if Locky and Waldo got beards?

I wouldn't have a problem with Hodgo going to fullback.

Remember that finals game a couple of years ago when he played the house down at fullback, making damaging runs everytime he brought the ball back from a kick return.

Yeah, that was 2006. What he showed for most of last year I wouldn't be so sure he can get back to that. He'll need to show better form this year.

Hodges won't be able to difuse bombs and his positioning is poor to be a permanent fixture at fullback.

Judged on what?

Like said before, the only way anyone could tell if Hodges would be a good fullback would be to play him there. The only thing we can go on is the few games he played there, albeit way back in 2006, however at that time, he was in such good form he Hunt out of his position.

Slight clarification on that. The reason Bennett moved Hodges to fullback was that he wasn't getting enough ball in the centres (not least due to Perry as halfback) and playing at fullback would give him more freedom to get the ball, plus to switch with Hunt as he felt appropriate during the game.

It worked.

So yes, a lot was to do with Hodges' form, but also lack of ability in the halves in utilising that form.

Translation; at that time, WB considered (rightfully so) Hodges as a better player in broken play and backline moves than Hunt, therefore a better fullback than Hunt.

Fullback is not just attacking position.......Bennett took a risk on Hodges' lack of urgency for the benefit of broken field running. It paid off.
