Fair call. The likes of Finch for instance seem scared to play their natural game

Who would you have in there b4l?

Only player I'd consider unlucky is Pomers and even then I didn't expect the selectors to have such a short memory.

Well for one pomers should be there. The selectors have a long memory when it comes to him but seemingly a short memory when it comes to marsh, who was kicked off the champions league in October...

IMO finch has had a few chances and hasn't looked like being able to make the step up, but there are probably limited options.

I guess my main gripe is the way the treated the one dayers. Especially the apparent 'allrounder' henriques. He had not earned the call up and was way out of his depth. I guess it's frustrating to see how at one time to be an all rounder was very unique and you had to be an elite bowler and batter. These days guys like henriques are 'all rounders' cos they can bowl alright and swing the bat a bit...

Rant over, sorry lads

You can't really say Pommers SHOULD be there. He has been in the wilderness for a few years and had a handful of good big bash games. Fair call by the selectors to want more from him even though I was hoping he got picked.

If you watched quite a bit of the big bash you would have seen a fair few games where the team batting first thought that scores of 135-150 were "par scores" or defendable totals, then the team batting second would just go out and smash the total with plenty of balls to spare. I think teams batting first are too worried about keeping wickets in hand, and not just going for it. 20/20 is a hit an miss type of game, unlike 50 over cricket where you can rebuild for 10-15 overs you can't do that in 20/20s. You're better off being 7-155 than 3-137.

Playing international cricket is about more than batting well, it's standing up when the team needs you too and that's what pomers showed he could do. The heat were basically out of contention until pomers basically single handedly batted them into the finals. It's easy to post centuries etc at the start of the comp when there is no pressure, IMO some of the players picked some of the players picked had shown they don't have the mental toughness when the pressure is on. Just my opinion

Agree with this. Finch in particular seems to get stage fright at this level.

But Finch has played 4 T20 games and has an unbeaten 50 in one of them. He has clearly been too scared to get out this year though.

Exactly. Players who aren't automatic selections are too timid at the moment.

Faulkner in for cutting? Is cutting injured or is this more CA garbage? WTF is going on?

A simple rotation. Faulkner is probably a better short form bowler anyway. No big deal. Cutting will play in the ODI's

If he is a better short form bowler that wasn't shown in the big bash... I guess faulkners just hiding his form. I suppose cutting needed to be rotated, he had bowled three overs so was due for a rest. 18 balls is a big strain on the body

Faulkner was actually pretty good in the Big Bash. Has plenty of good slower balls. Can bat as well. Don't need to make a big deal out of every selection.

Sorry for having an opinion.

Well i think Finch is in good form and must be there to support Aussies because the team is not in a position lose another series because they have already lost ashes and should provide best men in the ODI's.
