Hayne has to go, no question about it. The bloke is so selfish. As said in an earlier post, they should look at Toovey. Its either that, or somebody like Todd Payten at the cowboys.

Tbh, i'm still hugley impressed with the Walkers at Ipswich. When you look at the talent they have lost since they won the ISC and State championships in 2015 ( Parcell, Anderson, Cleeland, Capewell, Griffin,Walker and Barba to name a few ) , they have still been pretty competitive and still play some good stuff. Titans could do worse.

I reckon if Toovey isn't interested, maybe even if he is, they should take the punt on the Walkers. The Titans roster has all the ingredients of a side that the Walkers style could really work on. At the very least, it would change the culture there and create enthusiasm for what they would bring to the comp next season. Hayne might even look interested (given there is obviously no way he get punted).

On a related note, anyone else expecting Hayne to spin this as being the hero behind a needed regime change, just manning up for the team, etc and once again playing the victim card?

yep ... he is guaranteed 1.2 million next year, and if no other club gives him that (which they won't) then the Titans would be forced to make up the difference, counted under the cap.

He knew he wouldn't get another offer like the Titans' for next year so he had to re-sign but to do that and drop his level of visible care and commitment to an all-time low is just disgraceful. Then, to top it all off, he makes himself think he is a hero by saying he is willing to walk away for the benefit of the club (when in actual fact he knows he has to be paid regardless and is taking the easy way out). He is an A-grade idiot who any club who signs him deserves the attitude that he will bring with it.

When the Gold Coast Titans signed Jarryd Hayne, it seemed like they had finally solved one of their biggest problems. The fullback position has become such a crucial role in the modern game and after handing the reigns to Zillman, Mead & Hoffman to mixed success they finally had a genuine superstar.

Or at least so we thought. The reality of the Jarryd Hayne situation is that the Gold Coast Titans weren't going to see the best of Hayne until 2018. When you sit out of two proper pre-seasons and instead focus on a sport with completely different demands things aren't going to change over-night. This had to come into consideration and the Gold Coast had to accommodate for those changes.

One of those accommodations the Gold Coast Titans had to provide was stability. They needed to settle on a team and ensure that they had a good sense of responsibility across the entire squad. In doing so, you develop a strong foundation and cultivate a successful culture which is what we've seen out of clubs like Melbourne, Brisbane, Cronulla and North Queensland. Since Henry has been in charge of the Gold Coast Titans, they've gone through a serious upheavel, one that will ultimately result in inconsistency and poor performances.

Of their 25 man squad from 2016, only 11 players remained, including Kane Elgey who played no part in the Titans 2016 campaign. When you lose 1 622 games worth of NRL experience, you're inevitably going to struggle, especially when you suffer the type of injury toll the Gold Coast Titans have had through out 2017.

Don, Elgey, Grevsmuhl, Hurrell, McQueen, Peats, Proctor, Paasi, Sarginson etc. have all had lengthy stints on the sideline and that has not helped the Gold Coast's cause one bit. It's forced Henry to bring in inexperienced options who not surprisingly come up with critical mistakes at inopportune times.

As bad as the past couple of weeks have been, the media is getting carried away with the Gold Coast's season. They've produced some great performances through out the year and have been unlucky not to have recorded more wins. With another season under their belt and some smart recruitment purchases, the Titans are poised for a much improved 2018, provided they get everybody on the same page.

I think Jarryd is damaged goods at this point. You'd struggle to find a club that would have him now imo.

Which, with Hayne there causing divisions, even without Henry, is unlikely to happen. Therefore, if they keep Hayne (which they will be forced to do), I really think the Walkers would be the breath of fresh air that side could use. They certainly have the cattle to make that ad-lib style game plan work.

He wants the Titans to axe him so he can basically get his pay at a Sydney club imo (with Titans contributing). That is what he is angling for.

I would be completely in support of the NRL not counting the rest of the contract on the cap, so long as he either ***** off for good, or he signs a contract at another club and the entire agreed wage is on that teams cap.
