Justin Hodges

The thing I love most about Hodges is his passion. Honestly no one can doubt it, through our losing streak last year, he was one player who was ALWAYS trying till the 80th minute to come up with something even when the rest of the team looked disinterested. Every game he plays he truly puts in 110% effort, his enthusiasm and energy on the field definitely rubs off on the team as well.

We have always look a better team when Hodges is in it even without him being individually brilliant, players outside him love it because he's not the sort of centre who gets tries but the sort of centre who sets stuff up and he's just the sort of team mate players love to have. Remember Hodges/Folau combo with Locky? It was pretty much a certain try when they combined. Folau is just as good at centre this year but in a completely different way but Hodges does provide a lot of value to us. Fingers crossed the worst of his injuries are behind him because a injury-free Hodges can rip it up for us. He's only 28 remember he has at least another 2 quality years in him, 3 if his body holds up.

On the field he's awesome; I love watching him play.

That said, you also can't go past his work for the team off the field. Might have been mentioned already, I only skimmed this thread. His relationship with Tunza brought him to our aid last year, and, his relationship with Inglis no doubt helped us to secure him as well.

I am not going to comment too much here because I realise I'm completely bias. I do think the team plays better when he is on the field for some reason. He showed a lot of heart last year when the team was playing poorly. Because of his size and strenght he does draw a few players in defense and he can offload to create a gap. He uses his abilities well I think. Footy smart? Even with me being bias I can't honestly say I've seen him display footy smarts. Maybe a little I guess, but that would almost include every player in NRL?

BTW, as critical of him as I tend to be, I do agree when he's on the field the Broncos generally play better. He does lift them. I just wish he was more consistent and not such a loose cannon with his attitude at times.

Believe me you're not the only one. It annoys me to no end when he gets suspended for stupid things because he is so valuable to us.

At the same time I love his attitude on the field because it's shows how passionate he is as a bronco and it's exactly why opposition fans can't stand him. I just wish he knew how to control it sometimes.

As much as I love Hodges he will go down as one of those players who didn't/couldn't reach his true career potential, mainly because of injury and suspension.

Oh, he is cunning. Remember the 2008 Origin where he baited Eric Grothe Jr? He cocked his fist at Grothe virtually daring him to take a swipe. Sure enough, he took the bait, had a swing and the result was a penalty to Qld. Cut to Hodges p*ssing himself laughing. Gold!

He's an awesome player and any side in the comp would kill to have him playing for them.

the broncos are one of those teams [icon_razz1

Hodges has played most of his career out of position. He clearly was at his best when playing fullback. To even be talked about as being a great player is a credit to how good he is as a centre. Ironically if he hadn't of left the Broncos to chase a fullback position he probably would have got the position when Lockyer moved to 5/8.

He's one of the all time greats imo. I can see that he really misses being out there this year. having him back next year partnered with Inglis is going to be exceptional. He has a great sidestep mabye not blistering speed like Kempy but he does have a darn good palm on him. He's also a strong runner and is hard to take down 1 on 1 which is useful in some cases.

I loved the fact that he realised how much he missed the broncos and came back to us after a short stint with the chooks.

Hodges is a great assest to the Broncos and any team he plays for.

He is probably not very coachable, which makes him a bit of a headache for his coaching staff but I would suggest that most opposing teams are very wary of his potential damage.

My appreciation for him escalated after last year's origin when Price was dealt with.
For all of our sportspeople who play a competitive game, we all appreciate players like Hodges.
You want them with you.

I believe the signing of Inglis will be great for Hodges.
His ego will make him perform.

Another classic Origin moment! [eusa_clap.gi
That was brilliant! Haha, I love how Hodges sledges opposition teams, his teammates clearly love it and he definitely gets on the skin of opposition players.

Honestly Hodges/Inglis combo is so much more exciting than Folau/Hodges. With both being able to play their prefered positions and both game breakers who are lethal on each side of the field our attack will automatically be that much harder to defend because it's no longer a "pass to Hodges and hope for the best" or this year "pass to Folau and hope for the best" so opposition teams can't stack up one side in anticipation.

Ahhh I really hope Hodges can get over his injuries and Inglis can lose 5 or 10kgs. We would be such a lethal team with those two fit and healthy and with our juniors getting better every week.

I would love to see Inglis at fullback(or even Hodges tbh) but Hoffman is just playing so well there that it's not worth it, shame because IMO Inglis would be the best fullback in the comp if he played there.

Just can't wait for him to be back. Surely after a season on the sideline will have him champing at the bit to get out there and prove his worth. His kick chase enthusiasm alone is priceless and it lifts the team, memories of him and Yow Yeh patrolling the right side together have me drooling.
