Matt lodge

In theory could we offer Hynes 300k this year as a sign on bonus then 333k X 3 years? I think that would be a good reason to offload Dearden/Lodge early. Give Hynes/Hodgson upfront cash as a sign on bonus while we're in a year that we're not going to challenge for a premiership anyway.
The club cannot pay them a cent this year as they are both contracted to other clubs. The transfer of a contract and player changing teams would be the only situation its allowed.

That sounds about right, but there'd be nothing to stop us giving Staggs an extra 400k this year then taking 100k off the following 4 years?

It's not a bad strategy in a dud season to setup for the future.

Whispers from others here suggested something similar happened with Flegler. I hope thats the approach HQ took.

For mine Lodge being moved on is all about selling high to get at least some of his ridiculous contract. The way the game is moving guys like Lodge will not be able to keep up. It is a credit to him that he is able to have games where he dominates but if we are not being blinded by short term memory he has had many below par games per his salary and has had multiple injuries.

Right now we can probably get the Knights to cover the most amount of his salary as possible given their desperation and his storng form over the last few games.

My question is though, why the Knights? They have Saifiti clones and Klemmer, why do they want another high priced prop?
Siebold loves him and Lodge was very supportive of him as coach at Broncos.

Which leads to another question, what the heck is wrong with Newcastle to firstly sign that idiot and then actually be dumb enough to listen to him.

I don't believe this is allowed, however the Roosters publicly said that it was a tactic they used to sign Maloney from the Warriors and the NRL just put their fingers in their ears.

He does a wicked powerpoint presentation. Rumour has it he was able to combine the horizontal fade and star wipe page transition and a 35 year old Brodie Croft appeared through a time portal with 3 premiership rings to kiss him on the forehead.

I'm struggling to find anything in there that isn't believable.

Because that is what Isaac wanted.

Sure but you still have to get the club to take him. Like, if I am the coach or board of Newcastle, I'm not sitting there thinking out issue is our props, we need to get another overpriced one in!

The coach, O’Brien is/was also managed by Moses. So is/was Seibold who happened to be handed a job there.

coincidence I’m sure

What makes the most sense to me is that the Klemmer out rumor has legs but the media just got the destination (Broncos) totally wrong.

Maybe that was the quid pro quo for us releasing Dearden to Townsville so they could release Clifford to Newcastle. Newcastle also take Lodge off our books so we can sign a cheaper more mobile prop more suited to Vlandy's ball. Just a theory.

This makes sense
