Michael Devere a true Legend of the game

Yeah, he was a good player...back in the day. He hasn't played in over a year and was chucked on the bench and ended up playing backrow. Didn't even get a chance to play in the lower grade to get his eye in.

Bloody stupid decision, Ivan.

Could you imagine if one of our front rowers had been injured? Dragons by plenty.

I don't see why Henjak is persisting with these tiny benches, especially with a replacement hooker there. We basically had a hooker, two centres and one prop. Deplorable.

I'm sure Henjak must have some sort reason as to why he has been using these light benches but I cannot see it for the life of me. I would much rather a bench which consists of a prop and a couple of second rowers who can play prop as well like Thaiday/Sims etc.

As for De Vere playing poorly, he was selected in possibly the worst NRL bench of all time and forced to come on not only when the game was lost, but out of position. He is a centre/winger, not a second rower (we should play Winterstein or Michaels at lock next week aye chumps?).

As I said much of it was Henjak's fault but what I saw last night and what I suspected all along was the same De Vere which leaves him a few years behind where the game has gone and considering I thought he was mediocre at best the first time around I can't see him doing anything other than contribute nothing with the ball and struggle like he didn't before defensively.

Rocky, he shouldn't be coming off the bench after 2 years in an unfamiliar position that was Henjak's fault. What wasn't Henjak's fault were the surrender runs and the 4 missed tackles from 14 attempts, he isn't good enough anymore especially if you put him in an unfamiliar role.

That's what made me disappointed - he missed tackles!! He never used to miss tackles, and one of them he missed was on Beau Scott leading up to Sailor's try.

Yes, I realise he's been out of the game for a couple of years and he had a very hard task when he went on, but his performance was pretty ordinary I thought.

I am not writing him off by any means but he has a long way to go to be upto NRL standard.

In fairness Rock, most people bagging him were bagging him before he played last night. This was just fuel for their fire.

And that's what I can't cop. People judging players when they haven't played a game. Fair go.

So you happy to give Devere a few games to see if he is up to NRL standard but you can't give the young wingers a few games to see what they have got??

My original post was an alochol fueled piss take which has clearly gotten out of hand..

Others were not so keen to do so.... If Devere played from roud one would we have won in round 1 ?? Also are you prepared to drop Winterstien after 1 poor game. Michaels is treading on thin ice IMO but he is returning from a knee injury. I would replace Michaels with Glenn rather than Devere.

Ah, it doesn't take long does it.

1 or 2 more losses and the hate and finger pointing on here will be back to normal.

Our coach and emerging side will quickly find out there is no deodorant like success.

Agree Dexter. The rubbish being directed at De Vere is crazy. As Mick said in another post, it was one of those nights and the whole team was shit.

That said, De vere should never have been picked ahead of Josh McGuire or Ashton Sims.

LOL you have no idea. Put it into perspective, look at the wider picture.

- Dragons were on top of the game and killing us in defence.
- We were chasing a lead, massive pressure for everyone in the team PARTICULARLY someone coming off the bench.
- He has not made a single tackle in over 2 years!
- He was playing second row, a position he's never ever played in.

It's embarrassing for you and any one else who is bagging De Vere and saying he's not up to first grade and asking for his head after 25 MINUTES OF FOOTBALL IN HIS FIRST GAME!!!! That is absolutely, ridiculously pathetic and downright stupid.

How can you judge someone based on 25 minutes of football, especially when he was playing in a position he's never ever played in?? Especially in the circumstances he was put in!!!!

Fair Dinkum, some of you people here are unbelievable.

I'm happy for you to bag him out and claim that he's not up to first grad standard once he's played a few more games but FFS, after 25 minutes of football in a game like this? [icon_lol1. [icon_lol1.[/quote:83bq20qq]

We all know where your side of the fence is coming from Rock, but the simple fact remains a whole bunch of Bronco fans out there don't see why he's in the 17 and I'm one of them.
It is good pub footy talk - Don't get me wrong, I loved Mick back in the day, but that doesn't mean we should get Tallis back as well either. There ARE better options suited to our current style of play. 25 minutes or not, that is not the point!

I almost forgot how super orsm devere's useless dummy half runs are. Mustve been the one to teach hodges lol

Exactly, the 25 mins just reaffirmed what the majority already thought.

Don't quote me, I could be wrong, it may have been another admin.

But aren't you one of the many people who didn't want to see some of the young fellas to not have a go because of lack of experience?

If so, is this not the exact same thing? Judging before given a shot? If it wasn't you, then so be it.

I thought DeVere was crap when he played for us, epsecially in attack. But, was happy to keep him in the team because he was a fine kicker.

When I first started watching league properly, he was the first player I noticed with the ball. The only player who drops to his knees so he doesn't get hurt in a tackle.

He must be going well at training to keep Sims off the bench...

IMO that is De Vere to a tee, hard trainer will work hard. That definitley isn't a knock on him but unfortunatley it doesn't make you up to standard.

Sure, the game was lost by the time he came on, but his selection in the first place was silly. Why not a real forward like Sims or McGuire? I assumed Setu was injured.

Really strange selections from Henjak, our bench was pathetic tbh.

There were players in the backline that were sick and Henjak didn't feel as thought they would be able to play the eighty, hence why Hunt also came off.

And people are calling for his head? Ridiculous.

Fair enough if you don't agree with him being at the Broncos, but to use tonight's game as supporting evidence is just completely unfair.

Now to be fair schmingles, only one person is calling for his head.....

Very true. Agendas got fuelled Friday night.

Much like when Slater threw that pass in the WC GF. The same haters with their beady little eyes, never mention the numerous tries set up and scored throughout the WC, NRL season and SoO.

It's much easier to post about things that suit your agenda. do it a few times and the sheep may even think you know something about football [icon_lol1.

My eyes aren't beady...they're brown.
