OFFICIAL Michael Maguire Appointed Head Coach

You inadvertently discredited everything he did right there.
Everyone acknowledged the team he coached made the grand final - the only finals run in four years. But moving on from that, insiders had lost faith in him. Whether or not he was responsible for the team making the GF, he got plenty of credit for it. 2024, however, ended exactly like 2022, and 2021 was a gimme.

Here's what Darren Lockyer said:

“Kevvie is a great bloke and that’s what makes it so difficult. It’s not pleasant at all when you have to move on a legend of the game. He was also five minutes away from winning the grand final last year if it wasn’t for Nathan Cleary. This year at the back end of the year the team fell away significantly. The call was made based on the playing talent that is there at the Broncos, which there is plenty of. We feel that Michael Maguire has some traits that will complement what the Broncos need.”

In typical Darren fashion, no definitive answers were given.

Don't think much line reading is needed lol shit happened so fast that there is no way it wasn't decided weeks ago imo
Matty Johns was pre empting it a little while [ 3 weeks ? ] before the axe fell .Podcast 8th Sept . Kevvie gone 27 th ?
That pod cast with Madge had some pretty big hints .
Is this it.

Rothfield called it on August 24, a good month before Kevvie "stepped down:"

They all would have known something.

I think a few here tipped Kev to go.

Still don't think Kev deserved the sack.
We did better than Melbourne against Panthers in the GF.
We lost to the best side of the last decade and it was almost a win.
Melbourne got outclassed way worse than us but I bet Melbourne don't sack Bellamy.

Shambles of a club.
Are you dumb? Kevvie did not get sacked because he was 5 minutes away from winning a grand final.

Was getting the arse anyway.

If the main players wanted him, he still would be coach.

So Reyno back to Souths for a last Hurrah then ? LOL .
About 3 weeks till the horse trading can begin in earnest .
