"Milf will be like Locky" - Bennett

Yeah, they are very different players, at least from what we've seen so far IMO. Milford is a more talented version of Barba IMO - like someone said, they creates opportunities with their speed and footwork. You need gaps for players like that - which usually means out very wide where the defence is not congested, or taking offloads through the middle. Both are what fullbacks specialise in these days.

Barba's speed was hampered last year through whatever reasons, and he wasn't able to do any of that.

Sorry lad, i got a bit carried away. Still some leftover anger from last nite i think hehe. Apologies for my bad attitude.

Milford should be like Locky....

I.e. play fullback for nearly 200 games before making the switch.

Meanwhile we have a nuffie Five-Eighth and our highest paid player being a winger, yeah that sounds great for the club, let's do that!

I doubt Boyd is our highest paid player and we have a few talented rookie halves ... Hardly nuffies.

He's being played out of position, that's all there is to it.

Nahhh....there's a lot more to it.

That's what you and the others don't get. There's a lot more to Anthony Milford than Milford the fullback. In fact, Milford the fullback isn't even that great....at least, defensively.

A safe defensive fullback is massively under rated these days. For mine, it's a fullbacks primary function to be defensively safe. That alone will win you more games than a fullback "play making" in the backline or opportunistically finding a break in the middle.

Milford IMO has great instincts for the game......can sniff out opportunity for others as well as himself. He is the ideal man to get the ball in his hands as often as possible .....

it's RD 1 .........let's all take a deep breath,

if our agendas will allow us to.

They aren't good enough to jump from NYC to starting for the Broncos.. Hardly anyone is, I'm not sure why this sounds like a good idea to you

Milford stood out in a diabolical Raiders team last year and has the wraps of almost everyone involved in the game. He has massive potential but if he isn't used properly he won't work. No matter how good players are if you don't use them properly they won't deliver. His first game was disappointing and hopefully he improves.

Elaborate on "used properly" .......

If you don't want to believe me that Milford should be playing fullback ... Maybe you'll believe Darren Lockyer, Andrew Johns and Phil Gould, some of the best minds in the game.

If you don't coach a player properly (play them out of position, make them do things they can't do, play them in a way that will make them lose confidence, don't support them etc) you won't get any value.

An example is when Albert Kelly was at the Sharks, during the 2010 season Ricky Stuart played him at fullback a position he had no ability in and Kelly carked it and lost confidence and never delivered.

Who are you talking about in the current Brisbane line up ......?

Wayne Bennett has been involved in more players being brought up than all three of those guys together.

I don't think any of them said he shouldn't ......they just indicated that it won't happen over night and it will take time.

After Rd 1 .....go figure ?

Gus definately said he should be fullback and then they compared him to Lockyer and hiw Locky was 26, a QLD and Aust regular and had played nearly 200 first grade games before he made the switch.

Gus Gould is a RL God .......

I'm going to need caps lock for this.

NOBODY WILL EVER BE AS GOOD AS DARREN LOCKYER!

not milford, not moylan. Nobody.

Gus didn't even like Lockyer at Five Eighth until he won a premiership and changed his tune.
