Kevin Walters is someone that the fans and players will support as soon as he’s appointed as coach. It’s a simple choice really.

With Broncos fans, whoever comes in is going to need damn near instant success. they will turn on Kevvie if he doesn't get achieve it

What does success look like now Pies has dismantled us?

same thing it always looks like for this club ... challenging for a top 4 position and a realistic shot for the title

Who is coaching this Rabbitohs team? We should bring them in!

Didn't catch his name but he's doing a good job it seems and may have a future as a head coach

We’ve never started from such a low baseline before. 21 if we win as many games as we lose that’s success and 22 need to be pushing for a title.

Fitzgibbon won't leave NSW or the Rooster (if he does leave the Roosters it will be as head coach of the Dragons)
Cronk won't leave NSW, the reason he left the Storm was to be close to his fiance
I'm not sure what Billy would offer as a coach
Kevvie would unite the club, but his coaching record leaves a lot to be desired ... in fact it is very similar to the bloke we just fired

I don't really care about Walters history at Catalans at this point, he is needed in the job just to bring back some semblance of the old culture.

Exactly. Also the Catalans stint happened ten years ago. Since then Kevin Walters has been a assistant to Wayne Bennett at the Broncos, an assistant to Craig Bellamy at the Storm, and Queensland coach.

I find it ridiculous that the Catalans stint is dredged up as a reason not to hire Walters which happened ten years ago. But we are supposed to disregard Paul Greens dismal record with the Cowboys recently for the last three years.

Jesus Christ. This isn't hard. Pick Walters as a casual worker. 12 months, if we like it we offer you fulltime. One things certain. If they do that the Broncos will get a free pass for at least half of 21. The fans, old boys and media will all be temporarily appeased. Memberships will immediately be renewed, gate receipts straight back up, favourable media coverage straight away, players suddenly happier, it's a fucking win win. Not my first choice, that'd be Gentle with Flanagan as assistant for 21, Flanagan as head coach in 22 but still, 2021 would be instantly a winner.

Why would Kevvie accept an insulting contract like that? He'd laugh and stick with Fox and the Maroons. Actually he's too nice a bloke to laugh, but you'd hear about it from his wife on social media, and rightly so. We're hiring a head coach, not the assistant manager of the Chermside Starbucks.

And your first choice is a bloke who doesn't want the job, so that'd probably not work out too well either.

I honestly think Griffin is exactly what the club needs now but the backlash would be too big. The only choice is Kevvie, they need hi to settle the ship for two seasons. I’d be over the moon if they could get Hook as an assistant though.

Having a laugh at Fittler saying Kevvie's not right for the job ... he's probably peein' his pants at the thought of Bennett taking on the Maroons gig and handing him the biggest can of Whoop-ass in history :noooice::embarrased:

I fidn it ironic the clamour for the club to make a hard run at Bellemy (myslef inlcuded) because he is a coach who plays structured football...

Paul Green is a structures coach too....

Just saying

Fun thing about facts....you dont have to like them....

Does nayone know how the Cows retention & recrutiment policy worked? Did Green have any say in it, too little, too much etc..?

Last 5 years they have arguably been the worse at it in the comp, with the Dogs providing stiff opposition

We like to think we are shit but compared to those 2 we are ametuers...

Not sure Fittler's opinion is really worth bothering with. He was a thoroughly underwhelming Club Coach and as an Origin Coach he came within a minute of bottling the series last year despite having a vastly superior team at his disposal.

Whatever, he has some points. Walters also has his name down for the Dragons as well as interest from Neil Henry.

Walters appt would be pandering to the old boys, giving them even more power than they currently have, though they should have none.
Refusing to pick Walters because of the old boys would also be giving them a level of control they shouldn't have. If we take for granted the argument their opinion is of no value, we should still end up choosing Walters anyway as he's the contender most likely to rebuild the club's winning culture.
