Nikorima > Granville

We're all too quick to jump on any solution for the 6.

No one really knows how Nikorima, Strasser or Kahu (or even the second coming himself, Milford) will actually perform week in week out at NRL level with the responsibility of the 6 jersey on their back.

They are all young and unknown quantities.

I dare say we know what to expect out of Milford more than the other three. He had a solid debut year

So everything done before playing first grade is therefore irrelevant? New players must just pop up out of no where.

It is irrelevant when you consider the fact Granville had plenty of games in first grade last year and didn't exactly set the world on fire. We were all plenty satisified with writing Maranta off with an equal amount of time.

He's been working on his defense and he played really well in his two first grade games..

I am not a big granville fan i will admit but i can also admit he is working hard, in the video he was racing up for the big hit like sandow only for the hands of the ball carrier to be free for offload and then overlap, now he moves up the defence line

Ok so you obviously don't remember the games he played. Maranta and Granville game time comparison proves that. Granville played twice and Maranta played 25 times..

On top of that, Granville made 46.5 average metres of 4.5 average runs.

What? Is that all?? I could've sworn it was a fair bit more than that.

Yep, only two games.

Well then, I may have been premature in my judgment of him, but I am so desperate for Macca to grow a set and play 80 minutes. We need another forward on our bench. It is imperative in the modern game. And someone please teach fucking Griffin proper bench rotations.

I think McCullough can still stay on the field with Granville and maybe move into the halves. Having Granville come on in the last ten minutes, he would ruin the slow, tired forwards with his dummy half runs. His explosiveness would be an asset at that point of the game.

So imperative to the modern game that only 2 teams do it.

A bold claim, considering where we're at in regards to halves (Milford waiting in the wings and some potential in Niko). I admit Macca's kicking game isn't that bad but all he really did in the Nines was mid field bombs. Didn't we just ditch Wallace because that's exactly what he used to do?

Is it though? As many have mentioned, the majority of teams run with a three forward bench and a bench hooker. Manly runs with a four forward bench and half the time doesn't even use all of them. With all of our backrowers fit we struggle to give them minutes anyway. To put it another way, how many minutes do you think we should be giving each of the following in order to play McCullough for 80?

McGuire - ? minutes
Hannant - ? minutes
Kennedy - ? minutes
4th prop (your choice) - ? minutes
Thaiday - ? minutes
Glenn - ? minutes
Parker - ? minutes
Gillett - ? minutes
Extra forward (your choice) - ? minutes

I don't know who you'd put in that final slot, but personally I'd rather their minutes be divided among the players above him.

In the modern game hooker is the most important position, ruck control/pressure wins games, cameron smith and the storm have defined this. So why not have 2 hookers who just dont stop probing away get the defence always on the back foot?

of those 6 80min hookers only 3 are absolute superstars who can just go all game (Smith, Farah, Luke) the others are just consistant (Ballin, N Friend, Ennis)

The midfield bomb in a 9s competition is a 50/50 ball on the last. With a high chance of an error or us getting the ball back it was actually a rather smart option for that particular comp. There is a lot of logic to it.

Yes and which ones are those? Are they consistent good performers?

So there quality performance is down to the lack of a bench hooker?

Someone needs to tell the roosters to give there premiership back.

So he's got some playmaking chops. Okay cool. So why isn't he lining up next to Nikorima in the halves next weekend?

I get what you're all saying and I'm not outright disagreeing with any of you. I just think considering how we've been going recently, we really shouldn't leave any option off the table at this point.

Hannant 50-60min
Mcguire50-60min
Kennedy 40min
Glenn- can do 80 easy
Thaiday- can do 80 easy
Parker-160min (just that good he could do two games straight)
Gillett-60min
Lowrie- depending what position but has a great motor
Macca-65
Granville-15

We have some of the fittest front rowers and our second rowers who have breaks as an option not because they have to. We can easily afford another hooker
