CROSS FORUM NRL 2022 Round 6 Discussion

Vintage Isaako there. Although it was an unnecessary pass.

The Warriors have been diabolical throughout its history, and I could be wrong, but I don’t recall any of our guys jumping ship to a contender for less pay…
Maloney?

This year yet?

Manly proving to be too big a handful for the Gold Coast Titans. They just appear to be in their element rolling along nicely and DCE has the ball on a string.

I think we're also seeing the effects of the penalty crackdown again. Honestly the entire round has been heavily influenced by the referees. The better teams may ultimately be winning, but the referee is having far too big an influence.

Manly fans should be happy with that first half

That’s the thing though, particularly when there’s so many grey area rulings as part of the rules, is that everything can be dictated by the referee. Non-calls or 50-50s can give a team either all the possession, or none of it. It can decide a team scoring 5 tries, or none of them.

When people say ‘yeah but they still lost by x-points’ that still doesn’t change that a referee can influence every part of the game outside any specific incident

If a game is fairly and evenly policed, then obviously the better teams will win more times than not. It’s when it isn’t that it’s usually the worse teams that lose any chance at winning

Fifita 38 metres in that first half.

The Titans completion rate, if you do that against Manly at Brookie, you're going to have a really bad night even without Tommy.

I thought Foran could have scored there if he stepped back in instead of passing it out.

Great call playing on.

It was technically a crusher, but he milked it for the penalty. I'm glad he came up with nothing.

Look at what Isaako did there.

If only Tesi could do that.

Titans had plenty of piggyback penalties and 6 against, Manly just have too much footy IQ

Just took his eyes off the ball at the last second.

You don't do that Sexton.

It's not so much about deciding the result, but just the quality of matches. Fans aren't going to the game to watch the referees call six again or send players to the bin, they want to watch the contest between the two teams. Too often teams are getting punished under the guise of rewarding the team on top.

Look at that Fifita finally does something.

I know I get bagged out for being an AFL fan (and rightly so at times with my promotion of it on a league forum) but honestly, this is one of the things that has made me watch it more than league these days. You tend to get an idea pretty early on which team is getting the ref's benefit for the game and unless the victim is one of the best teams, its game over before it even really gets started. AFL has some poor moments too but on the whole, there is a professional attempts at fairness...unless the Western Bulldogs are playing of course.
