The Niu try was a test for the new interpretation. I'm OK with it under the rules, it's just a question of whether the rule needs tweaking.

The Gagai penalty was dumb but the referee could have chosen to ignore it. How many times do we see those type of escorts let go because it had no bearing on play? It was a bad kick and O'Sullivan was extremely lucky to get a reward.

I think if the refs were consistent nobody would complain about a penalty like the Gagai one but you know you will see another 10 of those this weekend and nothing will happen.
