NRL Player Movement and Rumours 2016

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Who am I then? Why are you threatening me, a fellow Brisbane supporter?

That's the thing. You aren't a Brisbane supporter, and I don't know why you are trying to keep the charade going when you have fooled precisely zero people. I'm not threatening you at all, I am simply asking you to be truthful. I have no problems with fans of other teams joining in the conversation - in fact I welcome it. But if they're here to just to be dicks, or worse, they're pretending to be a Broncos fan, then I'm going to call them out on it. Simple as that. Find something else to do on the weekends that your local team is playing away.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Jar TV is a reliable source, He runs one of the best Rugby League podcasts out there. I respect his opinions and he believes Kostjayson would make a good hooker for NSW. He is not the only one calling for Kostjasyn to be named NSW hooker though. This was just one example.

Why is Kostjasyn such an under-rated player on this forum? I have been a Broncos member for 26 years now and think I have a good judge of talent. I went to every Broncos home game from 1991-2007

JarTv ruined that podcast.

Tony Webeck on Twitter saying Dave Hala has been released back to Redcliffe.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Apparently Hayne is still able to sign with an NRL club and play out the year.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Didn't specify - I'll find the article, but they called it a "loophole", and the NRL can use the Eels' willingness to sign Hayne immediately (when they agree to release Foran anyway) as a driving point to get them to clean up their boardroom bullshit.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

That's nuts. A team gets done for being over the cap and in the same year manages to sign hayne Hahah

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Loophole could see Hayne return to NRL

JARRYD Hayne will be free to return to the NRL this season after revelations of a loophole in the June 30 player signing deadline.
Hayne, who announced on Monday he had missed out a place in Fiji’s Rugby Sevens team for next month’s Rio Olympic Games, will fly back to Sydney this week to sort out his future.
Despite being fined $1 million and stripped of 12 competition points for salary cap infringements, the Eels will be able to fit Hayne into their plans for the remainder of the year if the board agrees to release Kieran Foran from his $5 million contract.
The 28-year-old has previously declared if he was to return to the NRL, it would be with the Eels, where he spent nine years before quitting rugby league to pursue an NFL career at the end of 2014.
It’s believed the NRL will look to use Hayne’s potential signature as a bargaining chip for the Eels to replace their under-fire board and undergo widespread governance reforms.

Wayne Beavis, Hayne’s manager, admitted he was aware of the loophole that would allow Hayne to return to the NRL this season.
Only a few NRL teams would be able to fit Hayne under their salary cap for the remainder of 2016.
Penrith general manager Phil Gould told The Daily Telegraph that despite granting James Segeyaro and Jamie Soward midseason releases to play overseas, the money saved would go towards locking up their wealth of junior talent.
The Sydney Roosters, who have long been linked with Hayne, would also seem an unlikely destination for the two-time Dally M medallist given their finals aspirations are all-but gone.
Chief executive Todd Greenberg said that the NRL “would love to see him back playing with us”.
“We have always made it very clear that we would love to see him back,” Greenberg said.

“I actually sat with Jarryd in round 1 at Pirtek Stadium this year and told him we would welcome him back.
“That has only strengthened on today’s news.
“So, if and when Jarryd is prepared to make the decision on the next stage of his career, if he wants to have a discussion with us about the NRL, we are more than happy to have that discussion.
“We are certainly not opening any special funds (to get him back) which have been mentioned before.
“The priority is to offer him a chance to play in the NRL. So the offer is absolutely open. He is a gifted athlete. We would love to see him back playing with us.
“We will work with the club (Parramatta) as I have said over and over. We are here to help Parramatta.”

It's probably not a loophole. It's probably more something like the June 30 deadline is for cross-NRL transfers but there is no deadline / window if signing from another code.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

I'm going to be pissed if he signs for this year ... as I got rid of him from my SVRL team thinking that he couldn't sign after June 30

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Will Foran being released from his contract mean he won't be getting paid under the salary cap if he isn't retiring due to injury like Watmough was?

I think it's a complete termination. So he gets no further payment from now on, but any payments up till now will be included in the cap.

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

So I wonder how they got him to agree to it? Bags of cash?

Re: NRL Movements and Rumours - 2016

Parra will find some way to stuff it up and get busted again.

I don't think it's that simple though. I just remember something about Watmough having to get some clearance from a Doctor saying he could never play again.
