NRL Player Movements and Rumours 2015

Salary cap? What salary cap?

Someone had to say it...

It is a valid point. Melbourne had three of the Australian spine and were over the cap resulting in them having to have a bunch of no names surrounding those three. The Warriors now have the three important pieces of the NZ spine (minus Foran) and also have most of the NZ team plus Lillyman who is a Qld rep. Makes you wonder.

That was also the time when they had inglis..

Kane elgey has suffered a season ending knee injury

Gold Coast Titans halfback Kane Elgey to miss entire 2016 season after suffering ACL injury - 9news.com.au

Gold Coast have lost emerging halfback Kane Elgey for the entire 2016 NRL season with a major knee injury.
The Titans' 2015 rookie of the year has suffered a ruptured ACL in the club's first training session ahead of the new season.
MRI scan results late on Monday revealed the ACL tear after Elgey had gone down with what was first thought to be a minor knee injury following an innocuous incident during a training drill.
"It's a devastating blow for Kane and he has naturally taken it hard," said Titans coach Neil Henry.
"He showed his immense promise during his rookie season in 2015 and had been training extremely well, always among the leading group, and shown what great strides he had taken in confidence and maturity.
"We all really feel for him - Kane is such a popular and hard-working member of the group. But he is young and determined and he will overcome this setback and come back and continue to progress into a quality NRL player," Henry said.
The mishap for the local Gold Coast product, 10 days short of his 22nd birthday, will provide extra responsibility for newcomers in the halves, Tyrone Roberts and Ash Taylor, while the club has depth in the positions with Daniel Mortimer and utility player Karl Lawton, promoted from last year's under-20s side.

Is it just me or do these type of injuries seem to be becoming more common?

The Titans are a serious car crash of a club, drug chargers (which were dropped recently), off field instabability, DCE backflip, Roberts fiasco, dud coach, poor crowds, no money, their highest paid player spent time in QLD cup and now their boom playmaker is out for the season and they've lost their best attacking players in Sezer, Gordon, Elgy and Roberts.

What a horrible 12 months

They certainly are. I heard an interview with someone ages ago regarding it and he believed there was a link between the injuries and the muscle mass gained around the legs. It was something like that anyway but his point was it was largely to do with the training/fitness programs that players are subjected too these days. Considering certain clubs suffer these injuries more than others, he could have a point.

It seems Gold Coast are just not meant to have a club..

Have any of their sporting clubs not struggled to stay afloat?

The Suns don't seem to be in dire straits but I don't really follow Aussie Rules so I could be wrong

I keep saying it, it's the demographic. While most fanbases embrace an underdog, the Gold Coast population is the exact opposite. It's all about appearance and they only pretend to care about stuff if it's perceived to be at the top of the tree. Without inviting a Porthoz bashing, "elitist" is the best way to describe it. NRL markets itself on blue-collar, hard-working, honest toilers battling it out to be the best. The AFL advertising, however, markets itself as the elite code of the area. It tells the public it is the best and they believe it, it's as simple as that. I've never seen a market so easy to manipulate, yet so frustrating to deal with.

This pretty much sums it up.

I work on the Gold Coast and pretty much all my colleagues are Titans 'fans' but have virtually no idea what is going on at the club. It's all just appearances so that when people are talking about footy they can look good. Case in point, I was having a chat with someone at work about all the Titans dramas and he proudly exclaimed that "this was going to be their year and Scott Prince would up the 'Daily M' (no spelling mistake, that's what they called it). Seemed quiet shocked when I told them that Princey has been retired for 2 years after finishing his career with us.

Sucks for Elgey.. but at least we'll get to see a full season of Taylor now.

Jason Demetriou to Dragons.

He's been good where ever he's gone Pride and Cowboys have both won with him.

Tigers have signed Tim Grant. Anyone think Copley might be a chance at he Rabbits? If Burgess' contract had already been registered, there was no immediate need to offload Grant. But without Walker they really don't have any decent centres.

I think they are crazy if they aren't targeting Copley.

Dale Copley --> Roosters
Michael Jennings --> Eels
Pauli Pauli --> Knights

Seems very close to happening.

Knights are looking to top up their double named players so they have easier names to remember than Mata'aiutuaaauddusaiixxkkdsjxdjda?

Apparently Keary is linked to the Titans after a falling out with Crowe during a bonding night.
