Gee Barrett's tenure has started well. Lol
Yeah they are just letting this Pearce thing go as long as possible so they can find excuses to allow him to remain at the club. Just wait for the 'he is a totally different person', 'he has done so many things for the community in the last X weeks' and the old favourite, 'he has just needed a bit of direction and now he is determined to get back on the field and make amends and is sorry for every problem the world has ever had and blames himself for it more than anyone' reasons to come out. He'll be fined some randomly generated number figure and be put on a 6-12 month good behaviour bond and everything will be swiftly moved on.
I dunno. They just re-signed Jackson Hastings. Looks to me like they're trying to secure their roster for a Pearce-less future.
Don't necessary think that's the case. I would say they just re-signed Hastings before he has a full season in first grade in case he explodes and his market value dramatically increases. Good way of locking up cheap talent.
Weedler just said on the news SKD Jack Bird and Valentine Holmes got bashed at a bondi pub last night
Looks like the case is more or less done now. This from El Masri's ex:
He's one of the few players that I'd give the benefit of the doubt to. Despite the fact that he's Doggies Bro.
Hazem El Masri domestic violence charges, ex-wife Arwa defends him
However, it is understood that more than a dozen police working on the case have not been able to substantiate the allegations and will withdraw the matter when it returns to Bankstown Local Court on Monday."As a result of the ongoing assessment of information gathered during the investigation, police have withdrawn the charges and the matter will not proceed," a spokeswoman said.
El Masri's lawyer Chris Murphy confirmed the charges would be dropped yet declined to comment further. He said El Masri would not be making any comment.
In an earlier court appearance, Mr Murphy was admonished by a judge for launching a scathing attack on his client's alleged victim in court, describing her as "a compulsive liar" with a history of making "hysterical false accusations".
Following the October allegations, El Masri's long-time former wife, Arwa Abousamra, spoke out in support of for ex-husband, saying he had never even raised his voice at her before.
The former Bulldogs player was suspended from some ambassador roles following the allegations.
RISING Manly star Liam Knight has been arrested for speeding and registering a high-range breath test analysis. The Sea Eagles have informed the NRL’s integrity unit.
Knight was charged with high-range PCA and exceeding the speed limit by nearly double in Forestville at 1.15am today.
Police media state: “About 1.15am, police from the Northern Beaches Highway Patrol observed a red Mazda station wagon driving at high speed. Police will allege the car was travelling at 137km/h in a 70km/h zone and stopped it near the Roseville Bridge.“The driver, a 21-year-old man holding a provisional P2 driver’s licence, was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result. The man was arrested and taken to Frenchs Forest Police Station, where he returned an alleged positive breath test analysis reading of 0.176.
“The Narrabeen man was charged with high-range PCA and exceed speed by more than 45km/h. He was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to appear at Manly Local Court on 20 April 2016. He also had his driver’s licence suspended.”
Isn't it frustrating to see such a bright young talent throw their career away like that?
Also, does have anyone else have a problem with the current situation where an obvious talent like Liam Knight messes up, serves a year only to get picked up by one of the 'rich' clubs? It just seems to compound the issue and for a player in Knight's position, who probably wasn't going to play much first grade it's hardly that big a deal.
Maybe I'm being unfair but after the Todd Carney saga I can't help but be skeptical over the situation.
