The Raiders could definitely afford $1m a season after losing Dugan, Ferguson, Earl etc.. I'm not so sure we could fit $600k under the cap tbh.. it would be extremely tight, from 2015 onwards I'd say we could.
2015 have to remember Barbas pay will jump significantly and also hopeful of getting DCE or Smith, either of those will be $1mil players.

Guys. Im not sure if this intel is relevant with whats going on with Tony or not, BUT, with all this craziness currently happening around the 'will he sign or not' drama, I thought I would post anyway. Yesterday at Inala Plaza, the older, larger Pacific Islander man I saw with Tony some weeks ago was again walking around the plaza. I did follow him close by for several minutes to try to listen in on any conversation he had with the woman he was with - Tonys mum/aunt possibly? Anyway, Halo then quickly diverted into the Lowes clothing emporium and was in there for around 20mins. He eventually came out of the store carrying several bags. ONE of which contained some of the Lowes Broncos supporters gear (tshirts, beanies etc) NOW, maybe this was just a coincidence, but. It seems quite strange none the less. He was also grinning wildly. Well, we have to wait till Nov the 1st to know for sure I guess. Crosses fingers :)

Big spenders!!!! A real fashion merchant is Halo. Maybe if his kid gets that million dollar contract, he won"t suffer the indignity of shopping at Lowes anymore.

Disagree, if that article is correct what you said would be why they didn't offer $700-800k as the difference isn't that much at that high a pay, but $1mil is almost double what you guys have supposedly offered, double is a big deal to anyone especially soneone from a poor background and a mil is a magical number, he could give his parents $400k a year and still pocket the equivalent of your offer, that's huge especially since his family have shown a willingness to travel and spend time in Canberra with him.

Friends he has lots in Canberra including some close ones from Logan and at least another is going down for next season, partner will be seeing dollar signs.

I guess we will see. There is plenty of theory if you have ever done any leadership or management training on how after a certain point, an increase in monetary remuneration is of no significance and other factors (generally outside of work happiness) become a far greater motivator. To simplify it if i gave you $5 million and asked how happy are you out of 10 you would probably say 10. If i gave you $50 million your answer would also be 10.

Milfords got about 12 years or so left in the game, a starting salary of 600k with increase over 12 years, even if it was just CPI adjustments, would have him set up very comfortably for the rest of his life and an extra 220k or so a year after tax wouldnt be noticed if he is happy with his life.

As a Canberra fan do you really want to have a player in your team who is only there because you offered him $1 million dollars a year? Do you really think that the dollars will make every other issue go away in the long term?

You've never been to Canberra, have you?

Yes, I have been to Canberra and no, I wouldn't want to live there but I have also been to Melb, Newc, Townsville and the Gold Coast and I wouldn't want to live in those places either but I might consider it if someone was to offer me good money to play in my preferred position. Make no mistake Porto, Hoffy will not be back next season, he is not going to play FB for his nation and then be told by nitwits like Hook and Co. that he can't play there on a team who can't even make the playoffs. I agree that his best work is on the outer edges but he doesn't give a shit what we think.

I realise that's a part of professional sport where money rules the roost. For a mil I couldn't care if he stayed or left but the article if true does let player managers know we've got money to spend and not afraid to use it on marquee players, that could've been the whole point of the article.

Would it fix all the problems not at all it'd be like me asking you if the Broncos current shopping spree fixes all theirs, it helps in part but there's a lot of other things need doing.

It also shows that they're willing to pay overs. That in itself significantly increases the expected contracts of existing and prospective players. All of a sudden your salary cap is not worth the same as another team's salary cap, in terms of the amount of talent that it should procure. Do you really want your proud club to be the next Parra?

Raiders have paid overs for years mate, why very reliant on development

"I’m sick of seeing our kids developed and taught how to play the game in Canberra and then poached by people who can’t develop," Stuart said.

go **** yourself ricky you useless ****.

I'll take both the article and denial with a grain of salt, Gavels denied a few things over the years on behalf of the Raiders and later been shown to be wrong

Yeah, in this whole thing with notabene Paul Kent involved, Tim Gavel is the one who has no cred...

**** me, I live on the Gold Coast and there is a difference, like between gold and... shit!

As to Hoffy, it's not just nitwits that think so, Hodges does too, we do too and unlike lots of things, it's a pretty universal opinion on BHQ and amongst Broncos fans as well.
Just because NZ doesn't have better (yet, as RTS will oust him soon I think), it doesn't make him a top FB.
I'd loathe to loose him, but if he's going to throw a tantrum because although he can probably secure a starter's spot in a 3/4 position, but can't have the FB spot in a team that will have Ben Barba and most likely, Anthony Milford in its ranks... well he better get on his horse!

and that is why they will continue to just make up the numbers.
Really think its that simple mate? Hard to fathom what other teams struggle with when your team has everything handed to them on a platter and still manages to fail despite advantages other teams could only dream of

!
Come on mate you're better than that, I did say I'll take BOTH with a grain of salt, just pointing out to people who mightnt know him that Gavel isn't always accurate with his info.

Only the The Raiders, would be forced to pay massive overs for players they already have..

I admire your one man army routine in here but you lose a lot of credibility with your rubbish about the advantages the Broncos supposedly receive.

I personally have nothing against the Raiders but playing the victim card to the big bad nasty men at the Broncos and the NRL is getting tired.
