I think you're failing to grasp exactly how much cap space the Broncos have left.
Beale, Te'o, Norman, Lockyer, Petero, Prince, Wallace, Lui, Capewell, Anderson as well as a host of other players in the top 25 who are still not contracted for next season.

Additionally if Hoffman leaves, that's a further $300k freed up.

The NRL is also looking to change the salary cap, and if JYY is unable to make a come back, his $350k won't be included in salary cap either.

No one poaches the Raiders best players. The Raiders sack them for disciplinary reasons.

Which comes back to poor man management and poor club culture.

Dugan has looked good since leaving.
Carney is far more level headed now at the Sharks.
Jennings is thriving at the Roosters on the less money.
I'm sure Ferguson will turn the corner too.
Without strong leadership, accountability and training and education in the importance of professionalism. There will always be problems.


At some point people need to stop blaming the players and look into the management of clubs and how these incident are allowed to happen.

Weekly FTA Games? Wouldn't happen if they didn't rate.
Players wanting to play for us? Wouldn't happen if we hadn't been successful in the past 20 years.
Population? Well **** me, that's just where we are and it isn't the Broncos fault that the likes of Crushers, Chargers/Giants/Seagulls/Titans have been inadequate competitors in the area.

Considering the Queensland Origin team has dominated for 8 years, and currently the Broncos are lucky to have 4 players in the side shows that the Bronco monopoly on QLD talent is a myth.

It's a dangerous game to go quoting people behind their back, especially if the quote is false. Besides, what on earth would the Raiders gain by having Sticky "leak" the information to Kent, only to deny it hours later?

I wouldn't have an issue with the alleged $600k, but that figure is as trustworthy as Kent and Sticky... :rolleyes:

My point is that Rugby league is a working class game.
This isn't rugby union where every kid went to a private school and has a university degree.
A lot of these kids come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

They won't always be the most rational people and won't always make the correct decisions.

But clubs needs to be able to guide these kids.
And the Raiders program of simply handing them massive wads of cash and saying "go nuts" is unacceptable.

They have no one to blame but themselves.

So don't play the sympathy "poaching" card.
