It's a dangerous game to go quoting people behind their back, especially if the quote is false. Besides, what on earth would the Raiders gain by having Sticky "leak" the information to Kent, only to deny it hours later?

I wouldn't have an issue with the alleged $600k, but that figure is as trustworthy as Kent and Sticky...

I can't see us offering that much money.
Unless that figure included 3rd party payment and it was like $300k cap and $300k 3rd party.

But to think DCE, who has won a premiership, represented both state and country and is a proven match winner and quality halve, and he's only on $500k at Manly.

Puts in perspective how ridiculous the $1M offer is.

$1.5mil for a 32yo Smith near retirement or $1mil for a 19yo at the start of what should be a very promising career

How do we know Kent's is pure BS, he's good mates with Sticky, Gavels comment about Ayoub was from the Raiders not Ayoub himself, neither are reliable.

Why is there no direct quote in the article from Stuart saying: "the Raiders are going to offer Milford $1M per season to stay"?

And to you and your GH friends.
Always going on about how sinister and despicable the Broncos are.

I'm actually very proud of our clubs aggressive approach to targeting players.

I'm proud that we have a cut throat approach.

and that we are admitting last season didn't go well and we are taking drastic steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I'm proud that we refuse to accept mediocracy, and want to make the finals every year.

Don't be angry at us because your club doesn't have the balls to demand excellence and are happy to only make the finals every other year.

And don't be angry at us for taking advantage of the Milford situation.

Because I know if the roles were reversed and the Broncos had a young talented player from Canberra who was homesick. The Raiders would do the exact same thing.

Come off it mate, I even have mates who are broncos fans that can admit it, weekly FTA games, population of 2.2mil, are you really so blinded that you can't fathom the advantages that come with those.

I'm not sure if you are old enough to remember the mid nineties but Canberra also had a mortgage on Friday nights. Get competitive again and those days will return.

Yes the new tv rights deal has meant that the Broncos are on most Friday nights but keep in mind it is delayed into the biggest audience in NSW, all but the hard core fans turn off long before fulltime in the Broncos game. They get great exposure in Brisbane of course, just like Knights do on NBN netork and as im sure Canberra do on their localised network programs, as would the Warriros, and Nth Qld etc.

The Broncos have earned that exposure through multiple years of results. This year with the poor results you can already see Ch 9 focusing the attention to the likes of Souths and Manly. If the Broncos continue to get results of finishing 12th on the table the mortgage on Friday nights will start to evaporate. Making sure that doesnt happen is Brisbanes issue, just like it is the Raiders issue to build their brand to deserve Fri night viewing.

If Fri night games and population are your arguments for "having everything handed to them on a silver platter and advantages other teams could only dream of" then i'm disappointed.

Apart from the media, and Darren Lockyer has mentioned him, I have not seen the Broncos say even once that they will sign Smith.

He will not leave the Storm. The Broncos will be used as a bargaining tool to maximise the money he gets out of Melbourne.

They have invested a lot of time and money into developing McCullough. Who is becoming a very good 9, and who has a lot of similar traits to Smith.

Your name isn't David Gallop by any chance is it? Past few years have shown there is no correlation between success and FTA games like Gallop used to pretend, without going into too much detail just look at the Storm and Parra, channel 9 will show who are popular not who are the best, and with a lack of FTA games it makes it much harder to grow a fan base to improve chances of FTA games.

The NRL is a much different ball game to what it was in the 90s with channel 9 pulling the strings.

Anyone who thinks we will pay $1.5M a season for Smith from 2015 is dillusional. Perfect case of believing media beatups when it suits their argument.

I honestly think Raider fans see the Broncos cap like this:

Cameron Smith - 150k under cap. $1.35M under 3rd party agreements (cos you know, fri night games and shit)
Ben Barba - 100k under cap. $1M under 3rd party agreements (cos you know, umm population)
Anthony Milford - 100k under cap. $1 billion under 3rd party agreements (cos you know, just the NRL and shit)

and with a lack of FTA games it makes it much harder to grow a fan base to improve chances of FTA games.

Lol, you don't need FTA games to build a fan base, you need good results. Get Canberra into the top 4 and start watching them on friday nights.

Do you think Souths have been in many Friday night games since they were allowed back into the competition, or just since they have been competitive?

Come on, Bushy is a good bloke. He just has to spout the GH dribble out, and at the moment, it is denial central out there... :lalala:

Are you thick?

If the last few years have shown anything it is that success = popularity
Popularity = more FTA games.
Look at the increase of FTA games for Souths and the Bulldogs? And the Roosters towards the end of the year.

Yes some poor FTA games were aired but that had more to do with the fixed schedule and not knowing who the successful teams would be.

People thought Parra would be a good team last season under Ricky Stuart, which is why they got FTA games under the fixed schedule.
But they proved anything but.

It isn't like that for us?? Everyone knows we have all the advantages that no one else has because of our location and no other reason whatsoever. It's laughable we don't believe that too!! True story, honest!

If this whole "advantage" thing is to do with geographical issues. We can make an argument for the distance travelled being a major advantage Canberra has against the Broncos.

And what about weather? The cold weather in Canberra is surely a significant advantage when it comes to travelling teams?

If geography is your main bases, you should be lining up behind the Cowboys and Warriors in terms of geographical disadvantage.

Just did some quick research for you Bushy.

In 2010 South had 6 Fri night games (actually more than i would have thought). In 2013 they had 11, an increase of 83%.

On the flip side, to show it works both ways, the Dragons in 2010 had 12 Fri night games, in 2013 they had 4.

Do you still think there is no correlation between success and FTA games?

How many do the Storm get every year? Watch how many Tigers and Parra get next year. On Tigers historically they've been one of the most shown teams yet rarely make the finals. Keep your head burried in the sand mate, suits you well

See mate I can admit to the hypocrisy can you? A lot of our juniors are not poached, inaccuracy and agenda right there.

Of course i can. If we refused to release hoffman id feel we were being very hypocritical. You just seem to blow smoke up your own ass all the time. The fact you still come and post on this forum goes to show how sad you and the club you support really are.

Really think its that simple mate? Hard to fathom what other teams struggle with when your team has everything handed to them on a platter and still manages to fail despite advantages other teams could only dream of

I don't give you a hard time when you sprout your one eyed and biased Canberra fan-boy propaganda, after all, it's your right to do so

But seriously dude, you cannot keep saying things like this - you make yourself look stupid

The Broncos = failures?

For the past few years they have been mate
