[OFFICIAL] Barba to Broncos

pretty funny that the kennel is complaining about losing star players to other clubs when the bulldogs motto may as well be 'bought not bred'.

Well, Bennett did rather well with a team of champions, but you are right nevertheless - the game plans are all about the team, and how they will support each other, champions or not, and how well they do that.

the broncos of old were a champion team of champions, much like the QLD origin side of the last 7 years.

.... and if the rumour mill grinds out the truth, we will be close to those golden years

And Hook will mould the team of champions into a champion team!

lol @ barba isnt the solution.

hes a huge part of the start of a solution. big name players attract other big name players. you dont hear someone say they wanted to sign with a club to play with peter wallace, but you would hear them say they did it to play with smith/inglis/thurston/lockyer. barba can be one of those players that attracts others. at the moment, noone wants to come here cause we look like a dead end. we need to get some big names to stop that perception.

Hodges, Thaiday, Parker aren't big names?

And when the chips are down, we need to score points, are we still going to see Hodges running sideways across the field and putting in terrible chip and chase attempts for himself because no one else is willing to have a go?

To be fair to Hodges at least he gave it a go. We just do not have much potency in attack which falls back on the halves

FWIW my same source that told me about the Pritchard/Kasiano/Barba problems earlier in the year is now saying Barba to dogs is a done deal as they're very likely to secure Folau. They've made a big offer, if Folau accepts Barba is more or less a done deal for us.

not really, no.

in 10 years noone will look back and go "remember thaiday? he was one of the all time greats". parker, while our best player, is really just a hard working second rower. hodges can be excellent, but hes far too inconsistent and injury prone. if someone joined us to play alongside him theyd be pretty upset for half the season lol.

Barba is not the solution, but he'd be a huge part of it (provided he doesn't dud it up, obviously). Now all we'd need is a good half and we'd be set.

Barba may not be the entire solution, but he's at least half it. He got something like 23 tries and 22 try assists last year. You look at all the complaining people have about Norman not passing in the right situation, you stick Barba there instead and I guarantee you we win last Sunday.

We have been involved in 8 games this year where the final margin was 10pts or less and we have won just 2 of them. Having a guy like Barba in our team will bring that up to at least 4/8.

And knowing we have a player of Barba's ilk in our team could go a long way to helping lure Cam Smith back to QLD.

If I recall correctly Barba wasn't much of a halve

It's the same old same old ... no passing game, no support play = crap no matter how many shining lights

Barba is only as good as the ball he gets

We haven't seen enough of his passing game to warrant it bad, I'm saying it's an option, he's got the speed and step for a great running five-eighth, he'd obviously have to work hard on his passing and kicking game for it to be a worthwhile transition though.

good thing that at fullback he'll get a hell of a lot of ball.

yep, thats one of the big advantages of getting one of the games best players. which half/hooker wouldnt love the opportunity to have barba running off them? if we get barba we get closer to smith. if we get smith we get closer to a top level half. then we have a great 1/7/9 and we can put up a real challenge to the premiership.
