I thought I was the only one misspelling Henjak as Henjack?

The Gagai incident was to do with him wanting some leave due to some very personal issues.
Pretty much Henjak told him go find another club if he couldn't handle the big time.
Thats bs mate. He was warned if he he didnt meet his weight target he would be dropped from the NRL squad and he failed to do so.

Is that what Henjak told you? [eusa_naugh
So now he all of a sudden on the run on side for this weekend trial [eusa_doh

More weight, not less. The whole preseason was very focused on putting on some size.

Gagai's weight is fine. He is easily nudging 90kg.
He is still a kid coming from under 20's for goodness sake.
He still has plenty of time to develop his growing body.
He weigh just as much as Norman when he debut at fullback last year.
Gagai doesn't rely on speed or strength to break tackles. He is just naturally a bitch to tackle much like Dugan.
To say he was dropped due to his lack of ability to put on weight is a cover up of epic proportions.

If its true about the weight issue then thank **** Henjak is gone. Not every player needs to push 100kg

The whole squad were set targets and making them is the standards expected of the nrl squad and part of being a professional sportsman.

And understanding a players style of play and how best to take advantage of it is expected of a top grade coach.

If Gagai is better suited as a 88kg runner so be it, use him how he is best used.

He was told to put on weight which he did.
To say he was dropped because he didn't put enough weight on is a lie.
Have a look at Hodges and Lote when they first started out. They were skinny bitches.

Yeah what's the point of experienced coaching staff and trainers, the kids been tearing it up in 20's, hes perfect.

News flash, its not kids he will be playing against if he wants to play NRL, his defense was quite poor in 20's and he will need the extra size.

Actually at this rate 50% of the NRL will be "kids" he played against in the U20's ;)

Sounds a bit like they wanted Gagai to bulk up a bit so he could handle the extra defence in the centres... He will bulk up eventually anyway but that is what a pre season is for.

I think it would good to see some 'larger' backs at the Broncos.

Now that Folau's gone, the only back we have with size and strength is Hodges. Te'o, Gillett and to a lesser extent Glenn all fit the criteria, but ideally we'd be using them as forwards.

I don't know what went down with Henjak and Gagai. But I can say for certain it is the Fitness Trainers NOT the Head Coach that make an assessment of the best size/weight ratio for the players and set their targets in that area. So whether you think the expectation for Gagai to bulk up or slim down or whatever was incorrect, then you can blame the Fitness staff not Henjak - seriously sometimes I just think people take a set against someone and decide to blame them for everything. And before people start with the "yeah but ultimately the Head Coach is responsible blah blah blah" then I say to that - yes BUT specialists are employed to do specialist jobs and the Head Coach should trust them to do it or get rid of them; otherwise we should just have a Head Coach and no-one else.
