[Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

Old Mate, I'm sure I've read that before... Oh yeah, every post other than Worms on the southern forum. I wish we could convert Worm to a Bronc, he is unbiased and rational and seems to have to defend himself at home more than here.

Bushman, if you really knew what you were talking about or had a rational mind at least, you would see the ridiculousness of that argument. Looks like you'll have to find some other way to feed your agenda, this one is making an ass out of you.

He would need to change his avatar though I feel like punching the screen everytime I see it.

Courier Mail was interesting today, one page telling Hoffman to man up and honor his contract the next whinging the Raiders are trying to make Milford do the same.

Yeah, true. It's the exact same scenario isn't it. I'm so disgusted that the broncos won't activate the clause in hoffmans contract to let him move back home to be with his sick father... Oh wait

Cant wait for Halo to post some facebook stats talking about how shit the Raiders and Stuart are
;)

Just on contracts, I feel quite disheartened that a some of the southern media is saying that what Milford is doing is completely wrong and that he should man up and cop the extra year in Canberra. On Fox Sports News, Hindmarsh was saying that he finds what Milford is doing is highly unjust for the Raiders and that a player needs to honour their contract no matter what. They also showed and exert from Triple M radio with Matthew Johns and Mark Geyer, and they both said similar things; that Milford is wronging the Raiders and needs to man up. Seriously, I honestly think these sports personalities/journalists forget (or disregard) that Milford has the clause, which is being disputed by the Raiders, NOT that he is trying to illegally leave mid contract (like SBW previously, or even what appears to be in the Hoffman case.)

It's as I've said previously a matter of perspective, both Raiders and Broncos fans are seeing it through their teams bias and wont consider the other sides views, it's interesting what people aligned to neither camp are saying though

This is why I want to see this end up in court. I seriously want to know what that clause says, and I very much doubt it's clear cut either way.
While the Raiders may have the upper hand on the wording, I wouldn't be surprised if the circumstances around the implementation of that clause were in a totally different spirit, and make no mistake, a judge will definitely take that into account!

Bushy - From my experience, not really.

The 'neutral' fans either don't care or they're divided. Even then, if you take a general League forum, usually the neutrals weighing in are those with a well established agenda.

This will play out exactly as the Raiders fans say it will.. He won't sit out at all.
He'll be playing for us next year.
The Raiders won't get any players or any compensation.

There's probably not much that hasn't already been said or that you haven't already read, mate.

This whole situation absolutely sucks for ardent Canberra Raiders supporters like myself. I'm shattered at the thought of losing yet another one of our prime talents. Anthony Milford is someone who you can build a club around. A player that is worth the entry fee alone. Just like Carney and Dugan before him, I will be somewhat devastated seeing him wear another clubs' jersey, pondering what could've been.

However as I've said, I know it's business, and not personal. I can understand what the Broncos have done and why they've done it.

It's just sad to see my once great club outmanoeuvred and made to look totally amateur yet again. It's also sad to see that they totally refuse to drag themselves into the 21st century, insisting on still being run as a family play thing by a bunch of incompetent hicks with no ambition and little desire to succeed.

Every one of our problems are a mere by-product of this.

Welcome to the forum ...I'm always happy to talk footy with sensible opposition fans ...

My take on what would have been best for all concerned is this:

As soon as it became clear that Milford had zero intention of signing an extension at the Raiders (and lets be honest, everyone has known that for months). Furner should have been on the phone negotiating a transfer fee whit White (similar to the Bulldogs with Barba). whether that compensation comes in the form of cash, player trade, corporate deals or something else entirely doesn't matter. the Broncos would have got a player they needed, the Raiders would have been compensated and Milford would have been able to move home to be with his family.

unfortunately, The Raiders seem to be run by a man who lets his ego get in the way of doing whats best for his club (since as it stands now the Broncos have to what a year to get a gun 20 year old and the Raiders will get squat for developing him)

We at the Broncos have been somewhat upset with the direction the club has taken in recent times, but luckily for us it seems as if the clubs management have woken up to themselves and started to turn the corner ... via some astute player and coaching changes, changes it hiring a very talented scout and development officer (Brian Edwards) and setting up a new youth acadamy in logan

No matter what happens in 2014. Exciting times ahead for us Broncos supporters. After the past 2-3 years of nothing happening recruitment wise. There's lots to look forward to now... Although if the Milf was here next year. Excitement levels go up tenfold :-)
