Great news.

Bad news for Dogs fans as we are probably less likely to release Hoffman now until 2015.

Not sure who will fill in at 5/8th next season (maybe Prince??) but i still want to see Barba at fullback.

Not sure how I feel about this tbh. Glad we got him, our chances of hanging onto Hoffman just got a whole lot better...but what happens if we gun it next year? Hoffy plays like a gun at the back and Babs kills it in the 6. What do we do with Milf then? This is all hypothetical btw. Even if Hook picks the 2015 squad minus Milf (as in Barba @ 1), who's our fill in 6 for 2014 and what happens if he guns it?

Well its great news for 2015 but what do we do now for next year - yes they should make every endeavor to hang onto Hoffman for next year at least and he has to understand that he needs to improve his passing game etc - it may be the reason that Locke is fullback for the Kiwis and not Hoffman!!!!!!!!
Hook and Gee were banking 100% that they would get their man for next year and really have now very few options than to throw Barba into 5/8th and leave Hoffman at fullback

Biggest problem apart from who to play at 5/8th is our kicking game as well - can Barba kick well enough - is Hunt that good a kicker - not convinced and Macca is ok but who gets the senior role - is Strasser an option at half and hunt 5/8th or visa versa - I am confused as to what we do now - what ever we do it has to be for attacking reasons not defensive reasons otherwise we end up going nowhere again

Surely now that Milford is confirmed for 2015 and we find out about Smith after the world cup, we are going to need to lose a few more players if we are any chance of fitting DCE in the salary cap let alone in the team

Maybe our signing of him for 2015/20116 is our way of putting pressure on the Raiders to grant his release. After all we couldn't actually sign him for 2014 at the moment anyway, but now we've taken away a lot of the incentive for them to dig their heels in and deny his release for 2014.

Only Stuart is stubborn/stupid enough to hold on to Milford when his heart is already elsewhere. He'll try to play this as a win for the Raiders. And no doubt do everything he can to convince him to stay before the deadline, even though it's just not happening.

get rid of hodges, thaiday, mccullough, and hannant and youve got well over a mill and a half a year to play with.

sign jake friend for 2016 (but try get him to break contract for 2015), and daly cherry-evans and still have room to sign another prop or second rower if need be. we dont need to though, we have too many second rowers/props as it is.

Would have been great to get him for 2014 but the fact that the Raiders have put it on their official site in timing with the Broncos announcement makes me think they have no intention of releasing him for next year and Milf probably can't be fucked fighting them in courts for the sake of one season.

This is still great news to have it confirmed for 2015!

With the other rumour doing the rounds maybe we could see for next season:

Something in my waters tells me that by the start of next season things may change with Milford playing at Canberra for 2014 - i really think it is not quiet over yet especially if his dad takes a turn for the worst or Anthony is simply not happy down there.
With regards Cameron Smith - I do not think he will be coming in 2014 but he will be signed as the clubs marquee player for 2 or 3 years under the new marquee player arrangements so his salary will no come under the cap or only part will and then we will have enough money to get DCE - AND YES WE DO NEED HIM LONG TERM
