The Anthony Milford drama is far from over. Canberra still not his ideal home.

The release from the raiders was desperation to appease their fans. The fact that it was rushed out just before our press conference suggests they heard we were announcing his signature and they want to appease fans that all is good, when its clearly not.

The fact that chris garry is already tweeting this suggests that the CM is preparing a guilt ridden media blitz. it will be very hard for the raiders to hold onto him next year with headlines of:

Homesick anthony worried about his sick dad

dads heart condition has milford contemplating move to reds

NRL star milford drinking to numb the pain of homesickness

etc etc

This signing seems to knock over the potential of a DCE signing when put into context with Barba signing. I can't see it happening now. Will be great to see Milford here in 2015, but I'm not keen on another **** season before then...

Yep this is all very positive. Gives Hunt the chance we all want him to have and if not good enough, we chase DCE. In any case we need we have the insurance of Milford coming. It really has been a master stroke in recruiting and off field restructuring this off season. Hook now has to prove himself or he is gone, there is competition for basically every spot in the team and our boys will be fit. I am really excited!!

I agree that Milford staying with Canberra is not a 100% thing - My bet is the Broncos have said shut Sturat up for a while and then play the homesick card around February next year and we shall see what they have to say then.
With regards to DCE - why wouldn't you go chasing him for 2015 - someone or maybe more still has to depart Manly due to salary cap problems and the money DCE now commands they have no chance of keeping him especially if he also wants to come home to family.
With the "marquee" player money coming into play either next year but certainly 2015 then we certainly have the cash - 3rd party sponsor deals etc to get both DCE AND Cameron Smith but we still have to find 2 quality centres to make our attack potent not impotent as it has been for 3 years now

Only Stuart is stubborn/stupid enough to hold on to Milford when his heart is already elsewhere. He'll try to play this as a win for the Raiders. And no doubt do everything he can to convince him to stay before the deadline, even though it's just not happening.

Is this the forum narrative we will use to fill us with hope over the Christmas break?

Great signing, Milford is going to be one of the best players across the next decade and it's exciting to see another gamebreaker at the Broncos.

At least, that's if he makes it here. We're not out of the woods yet and there is a long time to go before the Round 13 deadline. You never know, Milford may backflip under the right arrangements.

Also begs the question who we can play in the halves in 2014? A make shift pairing of Barba/Hunt seems likely and a huge waste of Barba.

I will be shocked if he is not here in 2014. This is a power game and it's hard to see the broncos losing a power struggle with canberra
