[Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

I think being in the 25 man roster without a defined starting spot makes you an option for 5/8th at the moment.

Wasn't it his brother who played 5/8 in the under 20s though?

How is Kahu an option?

I'm personally not sure, I think he may have played some juniors there and aspires to be a Five-Eighth, but from what I've seen he's about as far from a Five-Eighth type player I've ever seen, my bet is still firmly on Barba for the #6 jersey in 2014.

Yeah, Jared.

I agree with you, i'm not keen on Kahu at 5/8th, i just think it shows that its a very open position if he is a possibility spoken about by the coach.

Stuart blasted the Broncos’ development strategy, given they have already signed Ben Barba and were reportedly targeting Smith and Daly Cherry Evans for 2015.
‘‘Why should we develop kids for other clubs like the Broncos, who have been probably one of the worst clubs over the last five years for development, yet they’ll go and pinch Anthony Milford and Cameron Smith.’’

From the Canberra Times website.

Stuart is an idiot. He says clubs need to be compensated through the salary cap for juniors but that would also mean the Broncos get more help as we create a lot of juniors, especially guys who play rep footy. So then we would cop more stick from opposing fans for using what is given to us.

My worst fear was that it would be Barba with Hoffman at fullback, but Hoffman and Kahu being a real chance? Hook pls go.

Dear Ricky,

How many players have you developed in your coaching career?
Answer: zero.

At every club he's been to, he's sent them backwards. He inherited a team at their peak at the Roosters, and slowly watched them slide into oblivion.

He took the Sharks nowhere.

He took the Eels backwards, as if that was possible after what Kearney did.

So don't go spouting bullshit about player development when you have NFI how to do it yourself.

GFY.

Earth

I actually agree with many on here that the Raiders found out about the announcement and to try and prevent to ensuing circus and media frenzy about next season they jumoped in with a little "scoop" of their own.

I hope to see him playing for you guys next year as I don't want him anywhere near my club. Not because he isn't talented or because I think less of him, because the kid is going to be a huge player of yours for many years to come, but simply because we have had the worst season I can recall and I have been a supporter since day 1 and we do not need anymore distractions. We need playesr that want to play for the Raiders and Milford unfortunately is not one. Time to move on.

Good luck with him and for the season, and let's hope you have him in your squad by mid pre-season.

Didn't Stuart poach Norman from the broncos. What an idiot. Then he let all the young talent go from the Eels then left. I'm glad the raiders have him as coach. They can expect a wooden spoon within 3 years lol

the round 13 clause was removed from his contract, there's no out.
Best news all day after the signing was confirmed! And coming from you, I know it isn't bullshit...

Suck on that Don! :thefinger:

It's curious that Sticky personally poached Norman from the club with the worst development of the last 5 years.

I have a feeling we're going to end up with a player who sucks at NRL level, and we won't see him as a starter ever.

This kind of cynicism isn't warranted but I understand where it's coming from.

The fact is the kid was the Raiders best player even in limited minutes when their form nosedived, he created stuff out of nothing at fullback much the same way Barba did when he was at his best.

We now have two guys who can blow a game open regardless of Griffins lack of structures, tactics and gameplan.

Canberra Raiders internal PR team's comment:

"The Canberra Raiders are pleased to confirm that Anthony Milford will be returning to Canberra for pre-season training and will play for the club in 2014.

Milford is currently on vacation in Samoa after his World Cup duties concluded and is unavailable for comment. He will return to pre-season training with the Raiders on Monday the 16th of December.
The 19 year old has acknowledged that the Raiders have been an important part of his life since he was first placed on a scholarship with the club at 13 years of age and as such is pleased to honour the final year of his contract with the club he debuted for in 2013.
Raiders CEO Don Furner said that “We acknowledge that Anthony has battled home sickness and is very close to his family however we are pleased that he will be playing for our club in 2014.”

How do you represent you are "pleased" about something when you are "unavailable for comment"

It's all part of being the broncos. They are the poster child for 'damned if you do, damned if you don't'

The last few years we get blasted for relying solely on our juniors and not signing from outside.

We sign a few players from outside, which every fucking club does, we get blasted for 'poaching' and 'not developing our own. Seriously eat and dick and die Stuart you pathetic piece of garbage

Maybe he drew a smiley face beside his signature?
