[Official] - Milford signs with Broncos

I hate the offseason. Gives us too much time to sit around and build up false hope :hmpf:

EDIT: Don't vent about other forums on here.

Anyway, I guess this is a good result for us as far as developing Milf as a player is concerned. We can pretty much write off 2014 completely at this point and fucking Griffin has another excuse to keep his job.

I hope we don't waste this opportunity and Griffin or whoever keeps a close eye on all of our halves. I don't think Hunt should have his spot secured either just because he's the "most" experienced. If he fails, give someone else a shot. Use the year to find our best possible options in the halves.

Why though, we have greatly improved our squad already. Yes we won't win the premiership next year, but we never were going to. Next year will at least be alot more exciting. Regardless of getting Milford or not there won't be any excuses for Griffin. If we are not well into the 8 (and I don't mean scraping in on for and against) he will be gone. In fact I would say that come mid season if we are not up and around the top 6 or so he will be gone

That's what I'm saying though, I don't think it will go down that way unless the media pile the pressure on. If we miss the 8, Griffin uses the excuse that we didn't have Milford and when we do, it'll be much better.

That may very well be true, but that will be because of the players talents, not Griffin's coaching. My point is, if we didn't sack him after last year, it's obvious he has strong relationships with the higher ups at the club OR he has a silver tongue (Yes, I did just say that Griffin might have a silver tongue. Don't laugh too much).

Any that don't involve throwing in an untried and untested players from the Qcup or the u/20's?

They have to start some time. I didn't say we have great options but we do have a lot of options. On top of these untried and untested players from Qcup or Under 20s (Taylor, Nikorima, Cullen, Strasser), we also have some reletively creative and skillful players who could play 5/8 in Granville, both the Barbas and McCullough. It doesn't matter what everyones opinion on these players are, they are options. I swear you guys won't be happy unless we are unrealistically cheating the salary cap.

To be fair, Round 1 last year, Milford wasn't even a household name. Now he is a star signing that two clubs have been fighting over for months.

You NEVER know until you put them on the park for a first grade game. Strasser might turn out BETTER than Milf in the long run.

The only possible excuse for Griffin is if we have an even worse year injurywise than last year. We have definitely improved our roster and added depth to the backline, which we desperately needed. We have Yow Yeh and Hodgo returning, hopefully at full capacity and even if we have to blood a youngster at 5/8 (which I'd rather do than putting Barba there), we have the forward pack and backline to get into the 8 easily!

Anyway, this is about Milford's signing, and as has been said, this is actually far from over. The Canberra announcement appears to be nothing more than propaganda without Milford's knowledge... Should be an interesting few weeks!

Great that he's finally coming here.

So much so that i'm prepared to wait for '15 for him to arrive.

In the meantime we can give another youngster a go and see if we have another gem in the pile.

The only good thing about him not coming till 2015 is that he will gain fantastic experience working under a shit coach. He'll feel at home under Hook.

I have a feeling we're going to end up with a player who sucks at NRL level, and we won't see him as a starter ever.

That seems like a pretty cynical view, considering how Milf has been playing.

Great signing, Milford is going to be one of the best players across the next decade and it's exciting to see another gamebreaker at the Broncos.

At least, that's if he makes it here. We're not out of the woods yet and there is a long time to go before the Round 13 deadline. You never know, Milford may backflip under the right arrangements.

Also begs the question who we can play in the halves in 2014? A make shift pairing of Barba/Hunt seems likely and a huge waste of Barba.
the round 13 clause was removed from his contract, there's no out.

When asked about the Five-Eighth position today at the Milf announcment, Hook said there was 4 candidates.

Hoffman, Barba, Kahu, Strasser

If anyone is interested.

How is Kahu an option?
