so orford and milford are apples and apples
but milford and hoffman are apples and oranges?
that'll do me.
so orford and milford are apples and apples
I think the Broncos should release Hoffman if he really wants to go and play fullback elsewhere and I am a Broncos fan. I have enjoyed watching him at the Broncos and think if he accepted losing the fullback he could end up replacing Hodges when he retires in the number 3 but that isn't what he wants and if he has a better offer to play in his preferred position as a fan I'd like him to be let go. Maybe in a couple of years he will realise he is a Winger/Centre and will come back.
The Milford situation is very different to the Hoffman situation and I don't think they should really be compared. I don't know Halo's situation as I am not his doctor and it seems no one seems to be able to confirm exactly what the situation is(nor is it really the general public's business to know).
What should happen with Milford depends on the wording of the clause in his contract. If he is in a situation where the clause should be available to him then he should be at the Broncos in 2014. But if the clause doesn't fit his situation he should complete his contract at the Raiders.
As a biased Broncos supporter I would love him to be at Red Hill in 2014 but as a general fan of the NRL contracts need to have some worth and teams shouldn't be bullied into letting any player go to another team just because they want to.
We released Wallace and he didn't even have a reason, it was just because he was shit and it was our call. I believe if a player isn't happy and wants to leave, there's no reason not to let them go, whether it's because they want to be with family or want to pursue their dreams, it doesn't matter. The Wallace situation just shows that things can change very quickly.
Note that I'm a huge fan of Hoffman, and would love it if he stayed, as I believe he could be the best winger in the comp... but only if he really wanted to.
Nice post first up and very diplomatic. I gotta say though I don't agree wit the Hoffman should be allowed to go but Milford shouldn't. Steering clear of the Milford thing and the reasons or not for him wanting to come home, at least he can certainly be seen to have a legitimate reason for breaking contract. Hoffman on the other hand is just sulking because he may not get to play the position he wants despite that is not best for the team. If Milford should be forced to stay but Hoffman should be let go despite purely selfish motives, I don't get that reasoning at all. Sorry if I misinterpreted your post.
What I meant was if Hoffman walked up to management asking for the release for those reasons the Broncos would be better off just letting him go. It sets an example that if you don't want to play for the Broncos more than you want to play what you feel is your favourite position you don't need to play for the Broncos.
As far as I'm concerned, if he walks into read hill and says "I want FB or I want a release" then grab the forms and **** him off.
Definitely not a pay rise, from all accounts he is on great money ATM. It would also be rewarding questionable behaviour, don't you think? Plus wingers shouldn't get massive contracts unless they are the cream of the crop, something he could be but at this stage, doesn't want to be. One more year of proving himself and his attitude and then let's talk about pay rises and contract extensions.
I would let Hoffman go regardless of Milford coming next year. I am sick of his petty whining and would rather see someone else either given a go at 5/8 or fullback
If he has to stay then play him in Redcliffe reserve grade
When Hoffman had to play thereDoes anyone know when being a winger/centre became a bad thing?
Which is what I'm waiting for personally.....what will he say? Will he demand the FB position, will he say give me a pay rise and I'll run the water for you or will he say I just wanna be a Bronco. Time will tell.
If this is actually about money, would people be in favour of giving him a pay rise? As a winger/centre obviously.
Great question Harry. Well reportedly he is on 300k now, which if we were to apply himself and become the gun centre/winger a lot of us think he could be I would be ok with a pay rise, as he could be a devastating centre and provides a more than adequate fb cover if barba goes down.
But it would have to be a situation where he is gonna cut the crap, apply himself to the three quarters, which I can't see happening personally
You're all jumping at shadows.
