[Official] Smith re-signs with the Storm

I don't mind Macca he was young when he came to first grade had to fight off two others with more experience and he is still very young, but hooker is arguably the most important position, everything starts with them, if we want a permiership we need the best hooker there is and that's smith, he can make any forward back look good with his direction and spot on passing not to mention he would be a third kicking option which is invaluable makes the defence hesitate knowing the ball isnt always going to the halves on the 5th, the list of what that man does is endlesss

You could have them both in the same team as well, Cam starts at 9 and then when Macca comes on off the bench, Cam switches to 6 and Milf gets a roving commission. Really could work.

Has that sort of roving commission role ever actually worked in NRL games? Personally I hope we don't go down that path.

Really can't see that working, its either Cam for 80 or Macca gets 15. or either one goes back to lock which smith has does in origin now and then and is what penrith does with their hookers

It's a shame that "not that bad" is the best we can say about him.

He just seems so darn slow in getting the ball off the ground. He might go better behind a dominant pack (Kennedy might help in that regard).

And he just doesn't seem to pick the right option very often (despite extensive first grade experience).

Its not so much needing to threaten Macca. Its more the fact that he has had no competition for his spot and that breeds complacency.

I was against buying Cam Smith for the money being thrown around but the more I think about I'm starting to think it would be a good idea.

With smith we'll have the best shot to win a premiership maybe 2 and if that means we have to spend a bit I'm happy.

I want to win another premiership and for the Broncos to become the dominant, intimidating force they once were!

Of course he would be great to have at the club but if signing him means we lose some quality players and have to keep someone like Maranta on the wing (Just an example) I don't think it's the best idea. I feel we could get 2 quality players for the same price.

Which "quality players" do you refer to?

The "quality players" we could lose, or the quality players we could gain instead of Smith? I feel Granville will be lost and we don't want him playing for another club. He will end up being like Isaac Luke. Ridiculously fast and evasive out of dummy half. It could work if Hodges decides to retire after this year. I imagine we will have to go of some players who are still under contract for next year. As for the "quality players" we could sign, there are plenty of good players off contract next year that we could aim to sign. I think we should try get Fifita if we were to lose Hannant (People have been saying he could be going to the Titans or something). He doesn't seem like he wants to be at the Sharks forever. Obviously DCE is on top of everybody's list. And Tautau Moga as well.

Sorry few flaws here

Hodges is set on playing on and broncos agree

fifita does want to stay at the sharks and if isn't there it'll be union, he won't leave Sydney

that hannant thing came out of no where and titans have plenty of front row stocks hard to see him leaving us again.

DCE comes with the same problem as smith we get them we loose someone else

Moga is Very interesting, we will all be watching him when he plays this year that's for sure

I think it will be kinda selfish of Hodges to continue playing if he gets injured again and is out for a long time this season. I'd love for him to not get injured though as when he's playing footy he is the best center in the world. Do you think DCE will come at the sam price as Smith? And there would be no harm in at least offering Fifita something considering he is off contract.

True, if he gets through the injury, there is not centre I'd rather have than hodges. Broncos want to keep him as well but they must see a future In hodges or else they wouldn't bother making him co-captain.

By the time he's off contract DCE could very well be the best halfback in the world at a young age, he could be worth more than smith easily. Unless he wants to take a pay cut to be a bronco (who wouldn't)

fifita is a great player but he isn't our type of recruit though

Fifita will go to Union next year. Would be there this year if he could

DCE is pretty much the only player I'd take over Smith, purely because of his age...I don't think he'll ever be as good though.
The chances of actually getting DCE are likely the same as Parramatta winning the premiership next year though.
