I heard someone say it down the pub last week.....:bilmem:
The bolded is absolutely correct. He's not coming here because he wants to make the Broncos a success again. He'll never have the same feeling towards the club as he does the Storm. He may be the most professional player in the world, but that won't be enough for him to put 110% in like he does currently. When he says that he'll do what's best for his family, all he means is squeezing the maximum dollars out of his last contract. The 4 year request just confirms it for me.
Someone previously mentioned how McCullough & Hunt seem to be much better when they play together as #9 and #7 respectively. I'm not too convinced, but it is a valid argument to suggest that the 'senior' player Wallace calling the shots may have stifled any leadership qualities of those two. Make or break year, no denying it. It would be a surprise, but it'd be nice to have a home-grown half & hooker combo tearing it up for us.
I'm not for the signing of Smith. However, if we were to sign him I have no doubt he would give 110% for the Broncos. He doesn't seem like the kind of bloke that would bludge a club for millions of dollars and not give them value for money. His want to win wouldn't allow him to play anything other than his best.
An argument could be made that his body at the age we would get him would see him give us his best playing days of his career, but I have no doubt he would give us the best he could each and every match.
Where has it been said (outside of this forum) that he has been threatened or has to be?
I didn't say he had been. Compound Fracture said that we should make him aware of the need to hit the ground running or face the prospect of demotion.
I was simply wondering why you'd keep a player when you need to threaten them with the sack before they perform....
McCullough really has never been that bad.
i think you made a good poor but I'm distracted by your avatar!!
I agree with this.
Smith is a competitor pure and simple. If he signed with us part of it would be for family but IMO a large part would be to win a premiership with us and prove that he can do it outside of the big 3

It's a shame that "not that bad" is the best we can say about him.
He just seems so darn slow in getting the ball off the ground. He might go better behind a dominant pack (Kennedy might help in that regard).
And he just doesn't seem to pick the right option very often (despite extensive first grade experience).
