How come the management at the Broncos cannot seal deals - surly with the likeihood of Smith not coming north then we will have 2m available for DCE
I do not know what Stewart is on but it would have to be around $450 which is freed up in their cap but after upgrading Foran and even if the offered DCE $1m we could beat that by 50% at least and give him a year or 2 and he would be automatic choice as captain

Almost impossible to get a superstar. I would say we had more chance of getting Smith than we will DCE. His missus is a Manly girl so if it comes a near thing then the squirrel grip will keep him in Manly

Apparently because of uncertainty with Hook. Players are reluctant to sign because they don't know who the coach will be.

DCE, Foran and Ballin are all off contract at the same time. I'd imagine they'd let go of Glenn Stewart this year, and Ballin the next (he'll be 31-32?) just to keep DCE and Foran.

If they do re-sign Glenn Stewart, I think it could suddenly get interesting.

for heavens sake please announce tomorrow that Bennett is back next year as director of coaching and Kevin Walters and Locky will be his understudies for a couple of years and let Benny decide who comes and goes - then we will get somewhere

Totally agree Fighting Irish. Whilst Hook, Gee and White are involved with the club, we will continue to struggle. We are nothing but spoon contenders this year with arguably the worst spine in the comp.

Actually, i would like to know if anyone can name a worse spine.

We have gone from only recruiting ageing retiring ex Broncos to now taking in left overs who are either unable to get a contract at their current club (Vidot, Green, Mills) or troubled homesick guys like Barba and Milford.

It hurts to say that we are the laughing stock of the NRL at the moment.

On a bright note, losing the first 6 straight games would mean the end of Griffin so at least I can enjoy 18 rounds of footy.

Though I can't say I'm 100% sure about everything that White's job involves, I can only assume it was thanks to him we got the Logan area, Edwards the scout, and Corvo the conditioning coach. I'd say that's been very good.

Remember the Mole thought that Melbourne were going to announce Smith's retention at the fan day. Didn't happen.

Smith certainly isn't giving anything away.

I just wish he'd come out and say what he's doing. Everyone can get on with life then.
