OFFICIAL ORIGIN: QLD WINS. HOORAY. NOW LET'S GET BACK TO THE FOOTY

Since we're coming into Origin season, we might like to think about how it's going to affect our playing roster and recovery time. Here is the schedule, and how it will impact us.

Tommy Flegler (18th man)

NSW ORIGIN 3: NSW
No Broncos

Why was David Fifita paid so much and what makes Jeremiah Nanai so highly regarded?
Jarrod Wallace has scored 3 tries in the last 4 weeks, how highly do you rate him based on that?

Nanai and Fifita are both 2nd rowers as well, 2nd rowers are expected to score more tries than front rowers

Can we try and keep this "value of Payne" shit to the Payne Hass thread please.

So our Origin players: who will back up?

FORWARDS
Payne Haas
Pat Carrigan
Kurt Capewell

BACKS
Kotoni Staggs
Selwyn Cobbo

RESERVE
Tom Flegler

In the past, forwards often back up while backs sit it out. Not a rule, though.
Assuming no injuries, I'd think all will back up tbh. Capewell might get a rest? He's missed a couple of games this year due to an injury that they're managing (I think), so might give him an extra week.

Would they risk PIakura given his limited prep as a replacement for him?

Mal is an idiot, David kept saying no, Titans foolishly believed they needed a marquee signing (a 2RF should not be a marquee signing - full circle back to Mal is an idiot).

I think Patty will back up (as he's off the bench), but play less minutes for the broncos. Capewell could probably back up and focus purely on defence, but there's every chance he doesn't.

Haas typically backs up I think?? Doesn't usually have to play massive minutes for NSW, but they could also use the AC injury as an excuse to put him on ice and protect him from the crowd

Cobbo I don't think will. With Coates, Val and Ponga in the back 5 I think he'll be taking a lot of grunt work hitups on Wednesday. NSW pack will be targetting him as well given he's a young bloke.

Staggs could probably back up as he's not going to be doing a whole lot of work in origin

But the replacements are probably along the lines of:
3. Staggs -> Hoeter / Brenko?? (who's been getting picked in the 24 man squad each week??)
5. Cobbo -> Pereira

10. Haas -> Flegler
11. Capewell -> TC
13. Patty -> Kobe

15. Kobe -> Piakura??
16. Flegler -> Kennedy??
17. Palasia

Doesn't even look too bad if they're all out tbh. I mean it would be far from our strongest team, but all those guys have NRL experience now and wouldn't look too out of place really.

The big thing would be the guys that won't be involved in origin

Consistency in the spine:
1. TMM
6. Gamble
7. Reynolds (should be good to go after a 3 week break)
9. Billy / 14. Paix

Availability of role players
2. Oates
4. Herbie
8. Jensen
12. Riki

Jordan and Te Maire make the Kiwis.

Staggs commits to NSW first.

One game for Tonga for like 5k or two more games for NSW at 15k each.

Australia isn't the best RL team, they just bribe the best players, which is funny given how important the salary cap is to the integrity of the local game but is thrown out internationally, so Australia basically have 3-5x the salary cap of other nations.

The Origin is where you get to see what the Broncos might look like without a salary cap.

Given they're second tier, can't Staggs still play for Tonga in the world cup or something? I swear they changed that rule to only apply to English and NZ players.
