I suppose it’s a good thing that Origin is screwing us over again. At least it means we’re good enough to have a few in the team.

Gilbert.

Punching that out against Newcastle coming from the bench is completely different than punching out 14 runs & 30 tackles against the Broncos. Considering how much emphasis there is on defence, Gilbert is far better in that department than Fifita who still tackles low despite being a physical marvel.
Didn't Gilbert miss a bunch of tackles?

4, Fifita also missed 2 and conceded a penalty despite only making 18 tackles and coming off the bench.
So how exactly was he far better in defence?

You believe Gilbert will have more impact off the bench for QLD than Fifita would?

Because he nearly made twice the amount of tackles and it was the defence of the Cowboys that put a form team under so much pressure they could never get into the game.

Meanwhile Fifita contributed to a team that rolled over to a cellar dwelling team.

Considering Fifita has never brought anything to Origin, I'm willing to see what Gilbert has to offer.

He also made much less metres in more time. I don't imagine an edge backrower on the bench is going to be used for this type of play. And some might say missing 4 tackles and 2 ineffective with 30 made, isn't exactly much to write home about.

common sense prevails

picking fifita goes against everything QLD has stood for and i am assuming billy as well.. He is a lazy player, sure he might have some talents but when do you see him doing the grunt work, reason Gilbert has been picked is because well he is the opposite of david 🤣.

I'm sure Billy would be more concerned if he was a Super Coach and not an Origin Coach but if you look at areas like contact and technique and Gilbert has it over Fifita.

Fifita isn't an Origin standard player.

Billy was right not selecting him and opting for Gilbert. He's lazy and doesn't do the hard work. You can't carry players like that in the pack in Origin.

You know, all players aren't in the side to do the hard work? Because not many of the QLD forwards did much hard work in Game 2.

And look how well that turned out for the Maroons? Absolutely everyone is in there to work their arse off. Fifita's attitude doesn't fit what Billy is trying to turn the Maroons into.

And look at what happened.. One example on why you don't pick lazy forwards that make their metres by running at the little blokes.

So why did Billy pick them again? If they didn't work hard, how do they fit what Billy is trying to do?

Who were the lazy blokes in game 2 that made metres by running at little blokes?

Revenge, the chance to make amends. Few played the game they're capable of over in Perth. They won the first, so they get another chance.

Haha, I love how little thought some of you put into it. Majority of this joint would be saying it's a travesty that Fifita isn't in the side if he was still playing for us.

I can definitely see the argument for leaving Fifita out, he is a lazy shit at times (although I think it's overstated because of his paypacket), but I would have 100% picked him on the bench for a 20 minute stint at the end. He's a genuine game breaker.

I'm a huge David Fifita fan.......I'd be taking a punt on him rather than the new guy.

I think both downsides are comparable between each player, but the upside to Fifita is by far greater...IMO.

If Daves on...he could very well win you the game.
