Coates is being swapped to the left wing to allow Selwyn to stay on the right. Also clearing way for an Oates/Coates direct swap in Origin 2.
Interesting. Few weeks back Lockyer said Cobbo was an option on the left because of his left hand carry.

Mam is in the U19 Queensland squad so could be playing on the 23/06.
Same deal as the internationals: won't affect availability or recovery.

Of course it could, he has to go to Sydney play against the best players in his age group come home from a week long camp and go to Townsville and play an NRL game- both something he's never done over the course of nine days and train fulltime in between.

Well that's true, but probably only insofar as the internationals will affect those reps. He's not our first choice half, so there's that too.

The other thing is this game/camp might also affect him in good way.

I think playing NRL squashes that. I don't want to say it's beneath him. But it is. Would probably love to have a trot for QLD but really what does he get out of it other than showing off to 18-19 year olds way off his ability. I know Nanai got picked for that as well but it was a bit of a joke those 2 in my opinion. They should want to play (not that Nanai can anymore) but the reality is should they play. I like everyone else would love to see them win but Ezra probably doesn't need u19 maroons on his resume' as much as a budding kid who has worked his ass off whilst in school or whatever and this reinforces there hard work has paid off. Ezra doesn't need that. If he hadn't played NRL I would say go for it but he literally just got rookie of the round in the NRL this week and I can't see how that is conducive to the development of both QLD and NSW boys who will be teared apart or missing a spot as a result. Presumably Harradyn will be the 7 can we agree? Someone like Jye Grey I would feel better about being in that side off the back of his hard work than a bloke vying for one of the most famous NRL jerseys - Broncos '6' - in the comp. You can have your thoughts but in my eyes Ezra is well and truly playing senior footy and should be exempt from that game. Unless he so desperately wants to, which he might, in that case he has his right to that jersey.

Likely done to have Coates be the Aerial threat to To'o.

He can drop balls 2m above him now.

Atleast the better winger is on their normal side.

I think it's to ease the transition for the new guy. Keep it familiar.

QLD's secret weapon: forward passing

Also he has to work:

I was looking at stats this morning, wondering how long it's been since Payne scored a try (Round 22 against the Roosters, 2021) and noticed Patty has never ever scored one for us in 54 games.

Must be due.

Players are paid to score tries yeah? **** these 2 must be cheap
Name another Origin player who hasn't scored a try. His bench mate Jeremiah Nanai has scored 11 from 16 games. That's why he was picked.

Payne is overpriced.

This place is fucked in the head? Forwards have never ever been measured on their try scoring capabilities.

Some of the delusional shit on here drives me crazy. Throw in a touch of toxicity and honestly I'm thinking of not bothering about coming on here

Using tries to determine a props value is just so far off the mark.

Webcke scored a try on average every 14 games.
Lazarus was on average about 12.1 games

Haas is currently (In much less successful teams) scoring a try every 11.8 games.

So would Haas be our best ever front rower? Because I'd still have him behind 3 or 4 others as it stands.

I'm not. My argument is, and has always been, that the players who command big money are the ones who contribute directly to the scoreboard in the form of scoring tries or setting up tries. You can only get paid so much to make hit-ups and tackle.

Haas is not good enough in attack to command the kind of money he's after. He's not worth it.

I think Patty is worth as much as Payne right now. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick Patty every time. They're both worth around $700k. Give or take.

Here's my prediction: Patty will score at least two tries this season or at least have his hand in a few assists. He will outscore Payne. Patty's star is rising. Payne's has stagnated.

Patty is a future captain. Payne is a future ex-Bronco.
