Origin Scheduling is a joke and a blight to the game.

If you cut the byes out, and the Test representative weekend, then the season is exactly the same length. Play rounds 1-12, break for 3 weekends, then rounds 13-24 and finals.

Origin teams can prepare in a week. I don't buy that rubbish. It worked fine in 2001 (each game was played on the Sunday night, no other games that weekend). No reason they can't prepare for another Origin game with 7 days preparation.

It makes the season longer and it doesn't give the Broncos Origin players any more down time than they are already getting.

and they still will suffer from the SOO hangover.

All clubs that supposedly do suffer will not benefit at all. It will still be the same with an added down side that fans won't get to see their clubs play for 3 weeks. Might not matter too much to fans that get to see their players during the SOO 3 week extravaganza, but it certainly will to the fans that don't.

Ok, Coxy so far you've called me stupid and now I'm talking rubbish. I don't agree with you on this but I accept what you say as different point of view.

You gotta love it here, you don't agree with people & then the name calling starts.

Yeah......what's that you hear sometimes about "play the ball and not the man". Good for some but not for others

..... shame there's restrictions on who you can ignore.

I lose my cool when people ignore all the basis of what I'm saying and harp on just 1 aspect. You don't normally do that Dexter, seem blinkered on this issue.

Don't expect anything else from some others.

Oh, i see exactly what you are getting at Coxy, but I just can't agree. :D

The issue I have with mid week origin is the games before and after origin are usually of poor quality due to players being selected for origin, rested or injured.

The standard of footy is usually sub par during the origin period and for me personally it just makes the footy on tv less enjoyable.

Another issue I have with mid week origin is the scheduling of club games for teams with heavy player involvement in origin like the Broncos. This year we played the storm the friday after origin and I think the bulldogs as well. These games should have been games of the year but they were ruined by players either being rested or backing up from origin.

No Jim. The games are not lower quality. Origin has nothing to do with it. The comp is orsm for that 10 weeks around origin....

/sarcasm

The Storm played Smith off the bench who then went on to play 61 mins ...other than that they were full strength.

We decided to rest Thaiday, Civo and Hodges. That was our decision. They could have played.

Not sure what you're referring to with the Bulldogs......?

It wasn't our decision, Thaiday and Hodges can't play two games in a row.

My point was more so the fact the NRL scheduled a blockbuster game the Friday following origin. I realise it was in Melbourne and ppl could watch origin and then stay down for the broncos game but that game should have been played before origin or at the very least
a week after origin not the Friday.

What I was referring to in regards to the bulldogs was I thought a similar situation occurred when we played the dogs but it my not have been them, hence why I said 'I think'.

Hodges could have played?? Smart move given his habit of getting injured. Petero is 36 sure lets make him back up. Thaiday already carrying a potential season ending shoulder injury sure lets make him back up. Sure they could have played but at the risk of more injury and burn out. Quality coaching that would have been. You should chane your username to Mr Clueless IMO.

God .....it's like talking with hormone enraged teenagers. The second you offer a different opinion, the claws come out and the name calling starts.

As you point out Beads, Thaiday was already carrying an injury. Hodges has had long term issues and Petero is 36. Is that SOO's fault?

Given that state of affairs with these players, it's lucky we don't play Monday night often, followed up by a Friday game otherwise we would have to rest these players more often. Then you would be crying about the NRL scheduling

it's lucky for Brisbane that the NRL scheduling looks after us more than any other club in the comp

and yet we still complain......

If Origin wasn't played on Wednesday night none of them would have to back up 2 days later.. Pretty obvious as to why it is Origin's fault.
