Our chances of making the eight

If your going to bring back Norman in any capacity(and I see no reason to when his form prior to his dropping to the qld cup was poor anyway and hasn't improved) then I would prefer to have Oates playing in the centres and Hoffman out wide where he has shown by far to be the most effective in attack, his much more dangerous being the player being put into gaps or on the outside then he is with the responsibility of linking with his outside man.

Really wanted the dogs to beat the titans tonight.
Can't wait until the day oates is in the forwards. He just isn't a winger at all. No footwork or try scoring instinct

Harsh. Only reason he didn't score on Sunday was he surprised himself that he was still in play and had beaten his man while still with the ball. And he can still count on one hand the number of 1st grade games he's played. He could be our Manu, but with better hands

No winger would have scored that try. There was a fullback on front and their backs closing in on the right. He was boxed in and after learning from last week (his third time ever playing wing) he stepped inside to avoid being put over the sideline. I cant fault him. He's awesome under the high ball. He has decent speed. Is solid defensively (not perfect with positioning from wing yet). He can find a hole, break a tackle and has done. Much better than maranta on the try scoring front. In fact he is better than maranta in every single regard. I'd love him in centre this week though with kahu outside him.

He also supports the ball carrier. Big plus in this team

Re-analysing the situation.

4 Games to go, 3 of 4 have to happen for us to finish 8th

Knights need to lose 2 from 3 (plus one which would be against us)
Titans need to lose 2
Raiders need to lose 2
Warriors need to lose 1

Titans and Warriors play each other once which helps (I guess).Warriors need to win that one and lose another.

its going to come down to the knights and warriors. titans and raiders are gone, looking at their draw. the titans were handed that game last night by the refs. disgusting

it would be nice if the only game that the raiders win on the run home is against the warriors. that would rule both sides out.

the knights should get done by melbourne, and the way the cowboys are playing they should also take care of the knights. theyll beat the eels, obviously = knights taken care of.
cowboys should beat the titans this week, roosters should beat the titans too, same with storm = titans taken care of.
raiders should lose to manly, but they could potentially win their others against the warriors, sharks and bulldogs = iffy.
warriors could win all remaining games though, only playing titans, dragons, raiders, panthers. raiders is the only iffy one = iffy.

the main thing preventing us from making it IMO though is that we need to win all of our games. eels with hayne? maybe. panthers? maybe. knights? dont think so. bulldogs? probably not.

id say we'll know in 2 weeks if we're not going to make it.

IMO the titans deserved that win. The Bulldogs put on one of the grubbiest performances of the year, and while the Tits weren't angels, deserved an even higher penalty reward IMO. Bulldogs are nothing without Barba, in fact if both him & Kasiano are still out in R26, I reckon we're in with a decent shot.

i honestly disagree with you. im no fan of either club, and i really didnt care who won (to me the titans arent making the 8 regardless). ennis is a goose, but i very much thought he had fair points when speaking to the ref on most occasions. the dogs had two tries disallowed which to me were both definitely tries. actually i dont know how they came up with 'no try'.

the dogs werent good. they gave up so much ball. but the titans werent that good either.

i see neither side as a threat.

I agree that one of those was a try. But if the ref didn't blow those penalties the game was going to get out of control. I don't think the titans were anything too special, just that they were better than I expected seeing as they were without Idris & Kelly, and it obviously put the Dogs off their game.

FTR I tipped the dogs.

As I said before, the biggest hurdle is us finishing the season undefeated. The rest seems fairly likely, accept the Knights losing 3/4.

I can see the Warriors winning 3/4 but such an inconsistent team finishing the season undefeated is highly unlikely. The Raiders and Titans have hard runs home and are both way higher on the ladder than they should be. They should consider themselves lucky if they even manage to win 2/4.

I'll say with confidence that the Knights are no chance of losing 3/4. So don't count on that option.

Ftr, I thought the Titans were the better side on the night and set out to play football unlike the Dogs. The reason Titans played the way they did was down to the approach taken by Haslers lads. The right team won and the refs were poor and indecisive. Perhaps if they'd taken real action early, sat Ennis down for his idiotic harassment and showed who was in charge then the game may have preceded with less stoppages.

Word is Barba will be back sooner than expected and will probably play against us.

Bulldogs play Faders tomorrow. Bulldogs are 3 wins ahead of us and play Souffs the week after. They could lose both games, and then they'd be another door for us into the top 8.
