[quote="Big Pete":3ap1spls]Well excuse me when I say the faded blue plastic seats at the SFS make the stadium look cheaper than it should. Considering how 'hip' Sydney is, I thought this problem would be averted.

The stadium is what, 22 years old now. Probably due a few upgrades.

I think the only thing they'll end up doing to the SFS is taking out all the seating and making fold up seats. I hope they don't, but it'll increase capacity and it'll make it look more "modern" if anything. Waste of money IMO, you'll find a lot of people prefer the older, wider style seats.[/quote:3ap1spls]

Only shit thing about fold up seats would be trying to sit down while holding drinks.

Sydney to you would be like Slater to AP?

See here in QLD we know a good night can start at 5pm at the pub, follow it onto the Footy and then finish at the clubs around the corner..

I agree that in general Broncos crowds are lacking in atmosphere. However, anyone who was at the Cowboys or Titans games knows it's capable of being a great atmosphere. And the bottom line is, energetic or not, they are there.

Are they "THERE" because they want to support their team by...just...being there or are they "there" because they don't have much else to do? [icon_wink

They are there to visibly show support to their team. Something many Sydney clubs don't understand. "Why would I show my support when they lose all the time?".

What about our crowds at ANZ Stadium back in the time Coxy? We have some real poor crowds down there and people made excuses that it was because of how far away it was and the poor stadium in general.

Why can't Sydney use those excuses then? Poor facilities, poor location, poor transport etc.Why is it, that Brisbane can use those excuse for getting shit crowds back in 2001? (19710 average) but Sydney fans get drilled over those very same excuses? Doesn't seem fair to me.

Yes it was poor. But it's since then that Queensland has become the heart of rugby league. We've had oodles of crowd support at Lang Park. We've had the Cowboys excel in drawing crowds to the north. We've had Michael Searle and the Titans single handedly pwn Gallop into forcing them to include them in the competition through sheer weight of argument behind the Gold Coast having a team.

Just on that, compare it to Central Coast's argument. "We deserve a team, we want our team, give us our team"...with nothing else.

Typical Sydney-area attitude..."we are entitled to a team...give us our team...doesn't matter if we can't be fucked making the effort to go to the game and support them...we are the heart and soul of rugby league and have been for 100 years, so we deserve our team".

Bah!

Thanks mate, but I've been to the Valley AND the Gold Coast on many occasions and it still doesn't compare.

Yeah, nowhere near as much crime or as many sluts and drug dealers.

Can someone semi-knowledgeable answer my question in regards to why it's ok for Brisbane to make excuses about their previous poor crowds but Sydney can't?

19,000 compared to 6,000.....

maybe not as many drug dealers or as much crime, but we'd probably go toe to toe slut-wise [icon_lol1.

True...should've said "snobby bitches"...that's been my experience of Sydney chicks at clubs.

Exactly.

I'm not saying it's a bad stadium, in fact it's arguably the best in Sydney. It just needs to be modernized.

Mind you, I will concede apart of my bitterness can be attributed to the level of company I had. Sea Eagles fans just flat out suck, especially when compared to the awesomeness of Dragons supporters.

That didn't really answer my question. Brisbane made the same excuses years ago and we accepted them but Sydney make the same excuses and it's not good enough? Doesn't make sense if you ask me.

Maybe Sydney teams will getting way bigger crowds once we figure out how to ensure better transport, better stadiums and better locations huh? Brisbane moved to Lang park which is in the CBD, great (and free) transport, outstanding stadium, perfect location and it all of a sudden attracted an extra 10,000 people to games. Definitely no coincidence.

Maybe one day, when eventually more Sydney clubs become more financially stable, upgrades or relocations of stadiums might occur and thus attracting bigger crowds? Until then we just have to ACCEPT the crowds we have down here as they are, the same way we accepted Brisbane crowds in the late 90's and early 00's for how poor they were.

Suggesting Sydney fans are soft for not turning up is saying the same thing about Brisbane fans back in the ANZ days.

Difference is Brisbane wasn't claiming to be the heart of rugby league back then. Sydney was able to still be the heart through sheer longevity.

But now there's more to it than history.

That's all in the past Rocky.

The present is, the Roosters are still drawing poor crowds because they don't give a s**t.

Crowds were going down because it got boring watching us smash the useless ***** from Sydney week in, week out :P

That wasn't the point of this thread though.

Point is the Roosters drew poorly and have been over the years, if they don't improve they should be in danger of being forced out of the competition.

Then you went on some huge tangent about tunnels and the Sydney night life which was too funny so you were allowed more time to keep digging that hole of yours.

I'd say the Roosters weren't too happy with that figure though and if crowds like the one against the Cowboys and the Raiders continue to happen they may be forced out of the competition when the game actually looks at expanding.

Your reasoning was poor though. Nothing can excuse 6000 people turning up to a game.

And no, Sydney doesn't deserve all the Friday night and Sunday afternoon games either. Not when the Broncos and New Zealand exist.

Speaking of the latter, I'm surprised nobody questions the Warriors at the moment. To me they're a colossal under achieving market.

But at least they still hold some worth to the game. As opposed to the transit lounge that is the Roosters.
