NEWS Payne Haas retracts immediate release from Broncos then

Munster showed Haas what a player on $1.2m a year should look like. Carrigan showed him what a player on $800k a year should look like.

Truthfully, I don't think at the moment Payne has the physicality in his game to dominate at Origin. He is a top tier athlete, but he just doesn't have that hard edge I think a forward need in Origin. Having a big motor just isn't enough.

Yeah not worried about him one bit in a Blues jersey. He isn't worth 1 Carrigan let alone 2 lol

[Payne's mobile phone beeps]

'Oh, cool, I got a message from Sonny. He'll have some supportive words for me. Maybe a verse from the Koran or something.'

[reading the message]

'"Hey Payno, you don't happen to have Pat Carrigan's phone number do you?" What the hell does he mean by that?'

Haas has never managed to make an impact at Origin level and tonight was no different - he was pitiful and soft, he lacks the physicality to lift at rep level… he can rumble along at baseline intensity for 80 minutes but he doesn’t ever elevate his game to wrestle back momentum or impact play the way someone like Papalii regularly does.

On the flip side, Carrigan was arguably best on field tonight - playing huge minutes, giving an inspired performance (even having to play on an edge for a while), and to see him in the changerooms at half time speaking authoritatively and instructively with the whole team (and coach) listening along as he lead them was inspiring.

There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind which player I want moving forward, and which one deserves big money.

I think I can recall 1 or 2 runs that hass made runs with quite a few PCMs but after he was taken to the ground and put on his back, his play the ball was so slow the qld defence was set for the next play and the set of 6 didn't really benefit.

This is where carrigan, Collins and cotter had it over nsw. They were finding their front and generating momentum.

But according to some here, we're just making this shit up now because he's made a contract dispute and threw his toys out of the cot.

He was the best in a shit team, he was always average in a good team. Big meters at the cost of a slow play the ball is not means for a million dollar contract. Heck, Patty showed tonight that he's much more deserving of any spare cash we've got. After we've locked Cobbo up for life that is.

The Penrith game relies on outside backs taking the ball forward early so that the forwards can defend hard in the middle and make more impactful runs less often. Haas doesn't defend hard enough for this to work for NSW. I agree with you on his runs, his PTB is slow and he doesn't seem to look for the offload lately. He needs some fire in him

Happy to agree to disagree with the guys who think I’m off the mark, and apologies for some of the less constructive comments.

Everyone’s entitled to their opinions.
**** no it's all good, apart from the Weinstein take, there's nothing controversial about what you said.
